Very neat.  Looks good!

Looks good, Rusty.

I take it the Migsell mount is attached with captive nuts where the clips go and a couple of 6mm bolts, yeah? I might have to see if I can fake up something similar one of these days, and get the GPS or equivalent up where I can see it instead of down between the bars.

Rusty, please refrain from posting inappropriate content. It scares the children and might get the site blocked.

I suppose it is too much to hope that you have a pic of them in place, without the mount or the plastics. And what are the black plastic bits for?

Unfortunately I didn't take any photos myself but a quick search of the forum found this: http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=12930.0

And here's a copy of a photo I "borrowed" from that post...  :whistle

As for the black plastic bits, they are just little caps that fit over top of the mounting screws...

Either that or they are the plugs that cover any ram ball mounting holes that aren't being used...  :think1

I just wandered out to the garage and amazingly, I found the installation instructions for the Migsel...
Unfortunately the "so called photos" on it were pretty much useless as far as being able to see anything helpful otherwise I would have taken a photo of them and posted them up...  :fp

Looking at the pics, and reading Alan's post, it appears that the nuts just slip in under the lip of the dash. Surely they are fixed by more than just bolting the mount down through the top cover and relying on the lip and clips further forward/down?

Double-sided tape at least?

My hazy memory is telling me there may have been plastic blocks that the tapered aluminium mounting blocks slip in to???
That sort of fits with the instructions saying you need to slide the blocks into place...  :think1

I took a photo of one of the dodgy pics on the instructions....and with a bit of photoshopping you can see that the aluminium mount does slide into a plastic block...  :thumbs

That’s correct Rusty.  I’m also a little fuzzy, but there are two little receptacles into which those aluminium blocks slide.  Installation was trivial.

For those that may be contemplating buying one of these "Displays", they are at a bargain price at the moment, especially if you're an eBay Plus member!  :hatwave

$159.99 or just $132.79 (by using eBay Plus code "JAU17") You'll have to hurry though as it finishes on the 9/08/2023...

I decide to take the mighty ST out for a spin today to check out how the Android Auto works...
My ride was short lived as I found out my you beaut "Held" gloves aren't screen sensitive!
Ripped Off!!! When I bought them they were advertised as having, and I quote: "special leather at thumb and finger which allows smartphone operation".
Well, they don't work! :well  :cuss

Anyhow, after going through all my gloves I found a pair that did work with the screen but by this time I didn't have time to go for a ride so it's looking like I might have to try again tomorrow...

Hi Rusty, the new component looks very impressive, particularly for the money. How is it wrt reflection. I have a gps which i find very hard to read at times, most often if I'm wearing a lighter coloured jacket. Your screen appears darker with more contrast which should make for easier reading in most situations.
Cheers Mark

Hi Mark...
With the bike's screen being tinted and with the Android Auto screen being set back quite a way (combined with the Unit having a bit of a shade overhang built into the casing) I was hoping reflections wouldn't be a problem...and, touch wood, so far so good... :thumbs

Hi Dave, I've been quite happy with it so far...

In saying that though I really haven't used it a great deal, just a couple of RTE's and a couple of short rides where I already knew where I was going so wasn't relying on Google maps for directions.
Everything seems to work okay and it pairs up with my phone and Sena headset quickly and so far reflections haven't been an issue either...

The screen isn't overly large so that may not suit everyone but (so far) it really hasn't been an issue for me.

Listening to music has been a breeze, but I guess that might vary depending on what music app you use...Currently I'm using Power Amp.
I haven't tried Spotify since my initial trial as I have stacks of music on my phone so can't see the point in wasting my phone downloads.

Probably the main issue I've had is more to do with my gloves not working with the screen which is a bit annoying.
For the last RTE I wore my summer gloves (Alpinestars) instead of my new Ixon winter gloves and they worked perfectly so I guess it's a bit of a lottery as to what gloves will work.
I did try "Glove Tacts" on the Ixons but they ended up a waste of time and money as they still wouldn't work on the screen.  :||||
Funnily enough they worked perfectly on my phone screen though...  :crazy

At this point I have no regrets in my purchase of my Android Auto Screen...  :thumbsup

Cheers  :beer

I have bought one from your link.

I will be modifying my mount above the dash, and losing the Quadlock mount, which will be good. It is a pain to actually put the phone on it.
