G'day thrillseekers, just finished changing the coolant in the ST. Bl**dy hell, what a performance!! No wonder Honda shops charge a fortune to do it!!
After taking off the bodywork, it was found that one needed 400mm long rubber fingers :o As it was, I only drained the right hand head, as I could get the drain bolt undone on the left one, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how I was going to put it back in without removing all the zorst!!
I did loosen off the right hand zorst though, which did help.
Anyway, drained the radiator, r h head and put some clean water through. The stuff the came out was pretty clean, it had only done 56K, but I think it was 16 years old, as it was green, and Honda have a blue premix to change to.
One thing puzzles me: I have two screws left over. They look like the screws that go in to the service panels, and I can't figure out where the f*^k they go. I have checked and double checked, but can't find where I missed. They are obviously "trim" screws.

Pop up a picture of the screws (with a scale) and I'm sure the OzSTOC collective wisdom will go to work. :thumb

The amount of coolant left in the motor after draining wouldn't amount to much and I wouldn't go that far to remove a little bit.
I was concerned about this when doing the timing belt and replacing coolant hoses so I put the question out others in another Forum and the answer was not to worry about it. Though I did back flush the motor and radiator before putting it all back together so any old coolant would have been gone anyway.

That's what I figured. It took 2 litres and a little bit to refill, and from dry it's supposed to be 3.8 litres. The blue stuff I put in is ( according to Honda) compatible with the original green stuff.
I will try to post a pic of the recalcitrant screws.............

Well, I'll be....... it worked!!!!
So, as you can see, it looks like the screws in the service panels. And yes, I have checked that the screws are in the service panels, both of them.

Here's probably the simplest way to post photos, without using a third party such as Photo bucket. This will put a Thumbnail Image at the bottom of your post and readers will need to click on the thumbnail to view it full size. I use this method pretty well all the time. Have a look at the attached image.
1. First open up the "Reply" window and type in your reply to the post.
2. Click on "Attachments and other options"
3. Click on "Attach: Choose File" and you can select the image on your computer that you want to post, but ensure that it is under 1.2 Meg in size.
4. Click "Post" at the bottom right and you are done.

Some of that might include the coolant reserve tank.

Yeah, maybe, now I come to think about it. I put two Phillips head screws in there, but, now you've pointed that out, it makes sense.
I should have two Phillips heads left over, as the left hand pocket screws wouldn't go in because the speed nuts were missing.
I think the previous owner had a shot at this, and damaged/lost a few things.

Interesting thought: shod the truck with Michelin's, and they have seemed to vanish as I look at them. I am afraid I cannot tell what mileage I got from them, as I didn't keep a record, but I think 18 months of "normal" punting..............
This time I am going for Dunlop "Roadsmart 111" They sound good, and have been advertised heavily
Will keep a record this time ( More money then sense (not) :-[ )
