Info on road conditions ? Please
« on: April 03, 2012, 04:55:08 PM »
I see that the NSW RTA website shows floods are/have subsided...however, there's nothing like local knowledge..

So, would anyone be able to advise how the roads are looking through say Bendigo, W.Wyalong, Bathurst areas..

plus any other advice to others that may be going to Blackheath via other routes..

Cheers

Kev

As far as SA is concerned for anyone heading from west of Port Augusta to Sydney should be aware of road works through Horrocks pass. Shoulder widening occurring, limit down to 80kph and some sections 40kph plus chance of loose gravel on road surface. Maybe a week or two until completion.

You wont have any problems getting through to Bathurst from W.Wyalong via the Mid Western Hwy.  The Great Western Hwy from Bathurst to Blackheath is good as well.  When are you guys planning on coming through Bathurst?   I can't get to the rally as I'm working but I'll keep an eye out for you when you pass through.  :law  Relax.....just joking!  :grin

I'm working from 7am to 4pm the Friday before the rally.  Let me know what your travel plans are when the time gets closer and I'll meet you on the road somewhere.  I don't think you could miss my FJR!   :)

Cheers,

Tony

Coming from Sydney up to Blackheath may have delays.  I got stuck there for an hour not long ago, and the roadworks have not improved.  Go the back roads.

Roads thru West Wyalong area are all open again  :thumbs. You just have to watch for repair works in some areas. Anyone thats coming thru West Wyalong can pull up stumps at my place.

The trip from West Wyalong to Bathurst is about 3.5hrs with a bladder check at Grenfell & a coffee stop at Cowra. Due to Kangaroos a sensible time to leave would be 8am so it puts us in Bathurst about 1130am. A rider was taken out on the Newell Hwy near Morundah at 0700 am yesterday by a roo and ended up with chest and head injuries :-[ 1600pm is a good time to be getting off the road as well. Emus are another concern out West as you come from  Mildura towards West Wyalong.

I reckon if we ring up and say we saw a BMW rider with a gun we would get Tony there real quick.  :p Problem is we would probably get all his mates as well  :cop :law :o :spank

If anyone is travelling west from the Sydney are, I strongly advise you use the Bells Line of Road, turning off at Bell towards Mount Victoria, then turning towards Sydney to Blackheath.
As Saaz says, the road-works are a real pain.
Go via Penrith to Richmond, then head west towards Lithgow.

I wouldn't rush to that one Tony!

The poor bloke probably couldn't cope with the shame of riding a BMW anymore.  I'd let him end it with some dignity!  :grin

I will try and get in by then as well.  I will go do a few laps first, perhaps we could meet just inside the circuit?

So, we'll look out for you around the 1130 ish Tony(Down Under)...unless your otherwise engaged..  i can PM you my number?..

Cheers

Kev

I'll send you a PM Kev.

I agree Saaz, Mt Panorama would be a good place to meet.  The track is pretty open so I don't think I'll have any problems finding you guys where ever you decide to stop.   If I get tied up with a job and can't get there I'll send Kev a text message.

Cheers,

Tony

If I get the mobile numbers of a few people I can contact once I get there or it gets a bit late (I will assume you have all died!). I have my mobile linked through my comms so am contactable if in 3G range.
