Title: JF3000 has had an "Off"
Post by: Shiney on May 23, 2018, 04:41:03 PM: I've just had a phone conversation with JF3000. He has had a "off" on Mount Nebo.
He was traveling at the speed limit and lost control in the dirt on a corner, he was thrown into an embankment and the bike was flipped.
He's collar bone has been broken and he has just been released from the hospital and is on his way home.

He's ST1300 has had the left mirror housing shattered and there is a crack in between the handlebars.
I will be transporting his bike to my place for storage and will be looking it over to see what needs to be repaired.

I'll keep in touch with him and keep everyone updated.

Post by: Biggles on May 23, 2018, 08:05:39 PM: Dirt on corners is a nasty thing to encounter. Thankfully it sounds as if you were on a right-hander. Fortunately it also sounds like the cutting was there to catch you. Others have gone over the edge on Mt Nebo and it has ended much worse. Trust you heal quickly and well.

The injuries sustained sound terrible and i guess the last thing you need while in shock is Ketamine to trip you out even more.
You will be sorted and on 2 wheels before you know it.

We will probably be back on our bikes about the same time
It will be great to catch up and tell stories of recovery
Going for a walk is helping me with pain management
Must be the extra blood flow it creates

Is extremely difficult to get true feelings across on a keyboard. Sharing your feelings is a great way to start on the road to recovery, and no-one here will poke fun at you for doing so.. (well not tooo much any way).

The important thing is to rest, eat and get well.

So far I've only had a chance to have a basic look over Jason's bike but it's looking good.
There's a lot of cosmetic damage (like with the exhaust where there is physical damage but it doesn't stop the item from working.)
So far the main things that are going to need replacing or repair that I have been able to see are...

The mirror housing and mirror are both completely gone from the bike, they will need to be replaced.

The left side Cowling (the main piece of Tupperware that covers the motor) is fractured and scratched but may be repairable with some plastic welding.

Under the main Cowling on the left-hand side, the crash bar (aka tip over bar) is either broken or severely bent and will most likely need to be replaced.

Everything else that I can see is just scratched making it just cosmetic damage.

I have removed the main Cowling on the left-hand side, and had a look.
There are a couple of things that will need to be repositioned back into place for the cowling to attach to but that's about it.

The bike starts and runs well but I haven't taken it for a run yet so I'll know more later.

I am 3 weeks today since my off. I had the opp 2 days later
So thinking back the first week I felt like shit
So it was 2 1/2 weeks before I felt like walking, I weaned myself off Endone before I left hospital
Now I just take an ocasional Panadol to ease pain when I sleep because it is uncomfortable, I have not taken anything for the last 3 days but mine is a diffent break to yours

I hope your recovery includes putting the 'mental demons' to rest. It will be a hard thing to get back on the bike when the time is right, but I wish you every success with that challenge as well. Hoping to see you and Leo out and about on RTE's in the future.

My demons are haunting me and I am not sure how to handle it, I definitely don't need to see a shrink, probably just a bunch of steed riders who have more of an understanding than some college kid with a degree on paper and never ridden a bike in there life. My nightmares I just can't control, it keeps playing back in my mind what I did, pisses me off I can't just move on, like it keeps telling me that I should of done something different I don't know. I've gone for a walk but can't get far without being in too much pain. I guess its only a few days and I am already trying to achieve the impossible and just need to rest more. Thanks for your advice everyone.

Post by: jf3000 on February 19, 2019, 02:03:47 PM: I just wanted to reply and say thank you to everyone who wished me a speedy recovery but a big shout out to Dave and Carrol for looking not only after my bike and cleaning up the foul stench of milk in the back of the bike but also eating my pringles even though I couldn't touch them, but most importantly being absolute good friends. You've expected nothing from me since day one when you first stalked me on your video cameras on the streets of Brisbane and riding out to meet and greet and introducing yourself. From that day on you've been a great friend and now Carrol too, so thank you to Dave and Carrol for being there for me when I needed you most.

Recently in the last 10 weeks I just lost my Dad which has been a very hard step for me as my Dad lives in the UK and being so sudden has hit me really hard. Yet again Dave and Carrol looking after my bike and using the cough bog to fill the holes, I do appreciate your help and all your kind words of support. I would like to take my hat off to you and say thank you, by the way I gave my Ozstoc hat to my Mum's husband who is a hat collector, so I will need a new one soon. But thank you and I look forward to getting back on my feet after I get a job and coming out on a ride again.

JF3000 asked me to repair the rest with Devcon he gave me.

Can't wait to get back to QLD to a normal life instead of this outback country living.
