So I just know I will regret asking this question :fp :fp :p
My new textile riding pants are very slippery on the seat, while the Russell seat holds me mostly in place because of the shape of it, the surface between the two is slippery.
So far we know there is nothing on the bike seat, cleaning products etc and don't wish to put a small non slip pad on the seats as I standup occasionally and it will blow off the bike or heaven forbid I walk away and it's stuck to my bum :-[
So any ideas what I can do to my pants or a product for the seat that won't cause damage to the seat :think1
Chris wants to put a few tiny spots of silicon on my riding pants like the soles of those slip resistant socks, any other thoughts before we consider this :think1
Thank you for your respectable and clean replies :Blow

Muust resistttt maakkkinnng smart comment :p use the force graham be strong 8)
on a serious note, i would be careful with the silicon, as you would be combining different products and they might react differently and that might not be good for seat pants or rider...

So many great lines..... :crackup and so much fear of retribution..... :law
I'm not sure how this would go on jeans, but it works well on drive belts.

You could use something like this and sow ties with Velcro to hold it onto the Russell Day long seat
We would hate you to fall off, but that would be another story.

Try Clarke rubber they sell a really grippy thin foam short term fix for Ballarat :like

The above work well. Just a couple of ties go under the seat to hold it in place.

Just modify your duds to match those ones I saw at the Mardi Gras on the teev the other night. Might get draughty though. :butt
:nahnah :nahnah :nahnah

:think1 what about a set of Andys straps to velcro you into the seat? Although if Abe is steering you may may need a couple to stop the sideways movement :whistle :grin :grin
-
What about a lambs wool seat cover?
-
What about the spray that football players spray on their hands for grip???
glue strip of emery cloth on the seat (not my seat) :rofl
Used shark skin around the handle on my tent pegging lance in my young days, work great.

Abe . . . Stop with the suggestions . . . The Chaps sound like a good answer!
-
Sheepskin seat cover.... ++

Years ago when I was playing Squash, there was a spray that we'd spray on the toweling grip, to make it non-slip. There might be something like that that you can spray on the seat of your jeans.

and if it's reflective you could stand up when a car was approaching from the rear at night and dazzle him! :thumb

In the horse riding idustry they have things called Sitcky Bum Jodpurs. Now I am not suggesting that guys get into Joddy's but the sticky bum concept might have merit.

:think1 Get rid of the Russell and go back to the OEM seat. I would be happy to take the Russell off your hands. :whistle
-
:think1 Maybe get an upholsterer to replace the centre part of the bike seat with a more grippy type of material :wink1

That is an option :think1
Why Sicman, your answer surprises me. It was clean. :eek
Get PitSTop to take your temperature, but to be accurate do it how your mother use to. :rofl :rofl

How about horse saddle wax. It doesn't hurt the leather and helps with the grip / traction.

Great suggestion. Even the newest of members have a lot to offer as well as learn.

How would that go though on a non-porous material like the vinyl ?? Thought with a little moisture from sweat or rain it may have opposite effect ??
Thanks for the idea :-++

It's more like a sticky wax rather than traditional parafin or bee's wax. Similar to 'Sex Wax', (surfboard wax) it provides traction in wet conditions. Sex Wax itself is designed for gaining traction on a wet fibreglass (non-porous) surfboard. You could even try surfboard wax, except I would put it on like a thin layer of polish rather than just arbitrarily rubbing it on thick.
(there are other brands of surfboard wax as well as Sex Wax)

RTG, that is interesting. :thumb
Pockey, I've tried hard to resist! Truely, but.... but..... but....... Damn, my upbringing prevents me from writing it...... :-X But I can't help thinking it.
Something to do with Caracoles. :eek :grin ;-*
