Negotiating this one at the moment. A few options coming up.
-
Ooh, a small conflict of interest here, as the youngest granddaughter has her 2nd birthday that weekend.
Here's hoping she's too young to remember Opa wasn't there.

Cabin Booked :grin
Me too.
p.s. I saw you in Latrobe this morning.
-
At least this one is more affordable for us than Tasmania.
I did check the not my favourite group park site and the camping site fee isn't that bad. Unpowered sites $25 or (peak season @ $30 which just makes the grass more expensive)
Might just have to get motivated and either get the 1100 back on the road or install the tow bar on the 1300. Overnight trip each way
-
Cabin Booked :grin
Me too.
Robyn and I also booked :hatwave
-
I'm in. ++

Checked with SWMBO and we're booked.
Can't be too early with these important matters!
-
Just booked 16/17/18 October at Mudgee Big4, @$125 per night. Was told there is another big group going to be there between 15-20 October so not many cabins left. As of today only 5 cabins available... so need to get in quick. When asking about the discount was told that the person spoken to at the park has not put down anything in the notes for OzStoc , but will give the discount once there...... only 331 days to go....see you all there ...cheers :hatwave
-

What about a pub? What's the name of the pub Phil and I met you at on the way to Wooli in 2017? How far is that from the Rally site?
-

Sounds cosy sailor! And I'll keep it mind, but I'm holding out on a reply from Joso re. the pub Phil and I stayed in on the way to Wooli. It was pretty good, single en-suite rooms for around the same price, but better 'cause it had a BIG bar, COLD beers, and some lovely bar staff.
Ooops! I think one was related to Joso, so don't tell him I said anything.

Messaged the Paragon re. reserving a room or two, prompt response Hi Michael we have you booked. Thanks, but didn't get a price as yet, will post more info when I get it.
It's only a 3.7km walk to and from the Big4, https://goo.gl/maps/fvgm7XR2WE5SoEt77, which means I can cut my morning walk short by 300m for two days.

Been through Mudgee twice on the bike, fair weather both times. Must have been drinking out of a dirty glass, I had a nasty headache next morning (but not Joso's daughter-in-law's fault though).
-
I've never been to Mudgee and neither experienced rain nor sunshine there.

does anyone know who the the other group at big4 might be?

Will find out in the next day or so working today

Just a word. I stayed at the Cudgegong Valley Motel last year on a car trip and if you carry any weight, you wont fit into the shower. There's about 12 inches of space between the glass screen and the wall.
Just saying....

Hi all, I'm good for this one, will organise accommodation closer to the date as I'll camp. Will be good to catch up since my last OZSTOC ride was the national rally at Mackay! Been pretty busy grandparenting both here and in UK, but time to get out on the bike more.
Regards, Rod.
-
With Doctor Doctor returning to Channel 9 tonight (sorry guys I am a fan) the advertising has reminded me that is is filmed at Mudgee.
I wonder if they will be filming there for our Rally?

Mudgee a goer for me, booked into The comfort Inn :thumbsup (sorry Wendy and Glen) :Stirpot

Did we ever get an answer to this?
-
Hi all sorry been so long have been busy with fires ect the other group is probus but should not worry us spoke to van park today all good 👍
-
> the other group is probus...
So just another group of old farts then... :grin
-
the other group is probus
Bodø will want to go and fraternise with them if they're so favourable to buses. :grin
-
No, when I go away I leave work at work. At the Halls Gap RTE a few years ago there was a Japanese tour group at the same venue.
-
When does registration open for NR2020
-
There's an elephant in the room......
Are we still anticipating that Mudgee will go ahead, or is it still too early to make that decision? These are tough times in terms of managing the risks of mass gatherings.
-
For me unless things generally get a lot worse or the state borders are closed or the 500 is reduced to 50 I plan on being in Mudgee.
-
I've booked leave and accommodation. I'll be there regardless.
-
I am the same as Bodo , my leave is booked in my accommodation is half paid for so I will be there regardless , I have most of October off and I plan to be on the Bike for that period , if they stop me from getting on the boat there will be a large explosion coming from Tassie.
-
There's an elephant in the room......
Did ya get a pic of the BM in front of it? Ya seem to have one in front every other BIG thing.

Yes, tough, unsettling times ahead.
I'm doing my bit though, working from home, already noticed a productivity improvement, have a home office set-up on a table in our meals area, only problem in it next to the refridgerator, I think I’ve gained 5kg already.
For me unless things generally get a lot worse or the state borders are closed or the 500 is reduced to 50 I plan on being in Mudgee.
Cap registrations at 50?
I've booked leave and accommodation. I'll be there regardless.
If NatRally event is cancelled, I will be changing plans, I can think of better places than Mudgee to spend a week or two.

Reminds of the the time there were three drovers bragging about their biggest cattle drive.
The first said that he once drove 1,000 head of cattle from Alice Springs to Darwin in three weeks, and didn't loose any stock.
The second one said that he once drove 2,000 head of cattle from Alice to Darwin and then back to Alice in four weeks and didn't loose any stock.
The third one (not to be out done) said he once drive 10,000 head of cattle from Darwin to Hobart in four weeks and didn't loose any stock.
The first two guys were astounded, but one asked, "How did you get the cattle across Bass Straight?"
The third guy said, "I didn't go that way!"
So Phil ... if they stop you getting on the boat ... don't go that way.
-
Same here, leave approved, paid 50% of accommodation cost and I will be there.
-

I've never been to Mudgee and if the event is cancelled it'll be a roof over my head whilst I ride places in that area. Like Phil, I'll be on the bike most of the time for my leave.

Yesterday Western Australia (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-12/wa-records-three-new-coronavirus-cases-taking-total-to-517/12143322) said it would keep it's borders closed for at least six months which will sadly carry on into october. :'(
Mind you, I don't know what other states are saying. I don't even know if I'll have a job then. :well
-
Chris and I are adopting a "Wait 'n See" attitude. If the travel restrictions are lifted and we are both alive well, we WILL be there, but haven't made any bookings yet.
-

Same here. The only booking I have is in Mudgee. I was planning dates either side of it when the bushfires hit areas I was pencilling in and that was as far as I got.
-
Can't do much more than wait and see. I am hoping it will clear for the Border Run. Already cancelled too much travel.
-
Yep we are sitting and twiddling our thumbs waiting to see how it pans out
-
Robyn and I have booked accommodation in Mudgee
But are on a wait and see what happens
-
Only bookings so far are a couple of rooms at the Paragon Hotel for a mate and me. Like above posts, we'll wait and see.

These are difficult times but I have made a booking at the "Comfort Inn Aden Mudgee" for the bride and myself. She will be tail end charlie in the box on wheels admiring my substantial back side. Best of both worlds as it is not a big drive/ride for us, 3hrs?
I do hope it still goes ahead, then I'll register for 2.
-
We are planning on it is happening until it isn't.

Work has thrown a spanner in the works as the company who is to take over our contract area from july 1st has said they "will not be considering leave applications until October 2020 except in exceptional circumstances". I'm hoping they consider the National Rally to be an exceptional circumstance.
-
That's about all we can do . :eek
-
At this point in time i have nothing booked and no share accommodation organised,so i have nothing to lose except for a not making it 8 years in a row.Much shame ensues :-[

I booked though booking.com and get free cancelation if done no sooner than 3 days before the scheduled arrival date. At least I do not have to fight for accomodation.

Evening All,
Due to the current state of the COIVD Nation we have made the collective decision to postpone the Mudgee Rally to about March 2021 with the exact dates to be released soon.
While the travel restrictions are beginning to relax it is the individual members social and economic ramifications that have really lead to this decision.
I will ask the state and territory RTE coordinators to endeavour to have an RTE on the 17th of October to get as many ST’s and other nearly as impressive motorcycles on the road for a catch up.
I will also endeavour to have produced a COVID-19 related commemorative commiseration patch/pin to be available for purchase for those who wish to keep their Rally Pin and Patch collection complete.
Thanks for your understanding.
***Edit 17th of October for RTE’s***
Cheers
Chris
-
Sad to hear this, but by the same token it is better to know now rather than two weeks before the event.
-
The Park is to receive the news in the coming days, put it will obviously up to the individual to cancel etc.
This hasn’t been a choice taken lightly as getting our economy back on track is paramount, but its a double edged sword :popcorn between propping up services and business in general and accessing disposable income of many members.
Cheers
-
1000% agree. :Like:
-
Thank you Chris and Team. This has indeed been a difficult choice and the best one under the circumstances.
Thank you for everything.
-
Fair call with the added benefit of getting the date back to around March.
-
Thanks to OzSTOC leadership for taking some decisive action on this. It's a challenging economic and personal time for everyone, and I believe that the cancellation is the correct decision, giving all those impacted a chance to make the necessary decisions.
We look forward to the time that we can travel freely and embrace our friends. SA already has an RTE scheduled for that day, for those wo were not able to get to Mudgee.
-
Chris, and the organising committee / group, thanks for your efforts on this one. I agree with most of the sentiments expressed above.
The NatRally 2020 postponed to March 2021 aye? Just like the Olympics, very classy. I've started planning already, cancelled the Paragon for Oct '20, and advised that I will re-book Mar '21 - when I know actual dates.
Mmmmm ....... the mind races, perhaps there could be a NatRally 2021 as well, later on in the year - Oct or Nov? Two in one year, now that's really very classy.
Suppose an organising committee will be needed for that, I nominate Nigel. Oh well, the thoughts were fun.
-
Good call committee. I've alrerady reserved March for a ride!
-
Looks like I am the odd one out but given it is 24 weeks before the rally would have been held I think the call has been made far too early. Maybe there is more to it but I would not have thought there is anything major involved that needs much more than 4 weeks to cancel. If domestic travel is still banned by then things will be bad. If the borders are open baring really bad weather Theresa and I will still be making the trip with maybe a slight variation in itinerary.
Why have the local rally on the 10th Oct, Bathurst weekend?
Unless international travel is still closed next March, next years rally will be the first Theresa and I will have missed since Middleton.
-
No, you're not the odd one out Glenn. I'm very disappointed this decision has been made this way so early. I read the reason:
"between propping up services and business in general and accessing disposable income of many members."
and wonder how many members were going to be short of cash in October. OK, some have lost jobs for now, but things are changing quickly. Maybe there's a lot I don'r know, and there are more members unable to save enough between now and October than I realise. Helping country businesses get back on their feet would seem to have a lot to commend it.
I know I'll be leapt upon from a great height by the majority who think it's the only reasonable decision, but figured I'd put my head above the parapet anyway. I also appreciate it's not a voting arrangement that decides Ozstoc dates etc, and appreciate the fact I'm not the one who has to make the hard decisions.
-
Make that the odd three out Glen and Biggles, I won't cancel my accommodation till a few weeks before. :well
-

Me neither.
-
For those still keen and able, Mudgee can still be turned into an overnight RTE for those willing. Same as SA has already done. My 2 cents worth. :think1
This way the actual logistics, which can get to be expensive and time consuming will be taken out of the equation. :clap
I also see Chris's and the committee's dilemma, for one that he would need to dish out funds in several directions before the event which would be difficult to recoup if we have a return to tight quarantine conditions. :'( We had an increase in new infections today for NSW. :fp

SA isn't an overnighter. I haven't altered my Mudgee accommodation as yet. I'm still in two minds what to do. The SA venue has been one I have wanted to attend for a few years now.

OOps, sorry for the partial "Fake News" Bodo.
-
I’m thinking I might just go to Mudgee anyway even if no one else does.
-

Was that the cluster at the Aged Care Home? I think there are going to be hotspots like this all winter, primarily associated with those who are most vulnerable, who are the ones that should being focused on at present, rather than keeping children out of school.

Nor is it from Perth. Although Theresa is retired both of us attending the rally was planned around Theresa having a relief teaching position for term four. So for her to be able to do the ride with me at least one way we were leaving Perth in time to be in Sydney for Theresa to fly home on the 7th Oct, teach week 1 of term 4 and fly back to Sydney on the Friday of the rally, attend the rally and fly home on the Sunday. These 3 flights are booked. We now may leave a little earlier, have the weekend of the 3rd and 4th in Mudgee and then only cancel 2 flights or we may just do as originally planned and fly the WA OzSTOC Flag in Mudgee on 16/17/18.
-
Update .... Sorry that should have been the 17th of October for RTE’s around the country side. Pockey gave me a bum steer but I didn’t double check so that’s on me Wot thuh
I completely understand the disappointment by many about the tough choice we have made in postponing until March(ish) 2021.
Without going into the extensive behind the scenes details of National Rally organisation there is simply so many individual pieces of Swiss cheese that needs to be aligned starting first thing next month to pull off National Rally.
One of the bigger concerns is fiscal.....we as a group take your registration money to pre-pay for non-fundable Rally items from suppliers who may or may not exist (some are Chinese based) when the time to order closes 2 months prior to Rally while OzSToc also commits to previous years business rules of refunding your money 6 weeks prior to the event. Now while refunding a few members registration as we have in the past is no big deal and we can absorb, image half the registered members rightly asking for the return of their money just on Rally pack supplies alone. Not to mention Venues, buses, catering, sponsors money, dinner speaker etc that OzSTOC arranges and pre-pays behind the scenes.
So many registered clubs are looking at clauses in their business rules and constitutions at the moment to cover their collective a$$es.
So to keep it simple and liability free, OzSToc postponed the event. But note we encouraged the member driven option of RTE’s all over the place as a replacement.
So if your keen for a ride to a place like Mudgee in October 2020 as an RTE that would be a tremendous gathering.
:Blow
-
Maybe make registration fee non refundable.
-
Sad about having to postpone, but understand the reasons. I'd be in for an overnighter on that weekend.
-
Maybe make registration fee non refundable.
I’d be prepared to pay a non-refundable Rego Fee.

Looks very nice, and pricey. I hope the borders are open and you get to go on your cruise, and (of course) you enjoy yourselves.
After some of the recent outcomes with cruise boats/ships, there's no way you would get Helen or me on a cruise. Although I must acknowledge this looks much smaller, safer and healthier than some of the problematic 1,000 plus passenger floating petri dishes in the news reports.

Not too pricey we booked when they were having a special deal. Less than 600 passengers. We have done the Hurtigruten coastal voyage both in summer and winter and loved it both times. Not the standard cruise type vessels, more about seeing the country than cruising. Like the european river cruises where you can visit a lot of places and see a lot of the country without having to pack your bag every morning and then unpack at night.
-
Hi all just a message to book early at big 4 van park that way we will be able to all be in one place if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ring me Joso 0417421196 👍👍

When are you coming to Mudgee, 2020 which is now a Claytons Rally (for those of you who don't remember the 1980s drink add for Claytons “the drink you have when you′re not having a drink”) or the postponed Mudgee rally in 2021? If 2020 see this thread:-

Can we have a thread for the Mudgee Nat Rally in March 2021 please. I am sure there will be plenty of discussion, but there's no specific thread at the moment.
