No low beam..

Funny thing happened the other day. I rode home from work in the dark on Wednesday and my low beam worked fine, yesterday headed off to work, no low beam but high beam worked fine.

Today I had a day off so I started to check out what the story was, checked the low beam fuse, all okay, decided it must be the relay so I pulled the plastic off the front of the bike and checked out the relay, definitely working okay.

Finally got an old H4 bulb pulled the connector and plugged it in, voila it worked. So both low beams had blown at the same time, I can't understand why this would have happened, the bike hadn't been jump started or had any electrical issues at all. I guess I should have checked the bulbs before I started pulling the bike apart but I couldn't really believe both bulbs would die at the same time.

Went down to Supercheap and got some new bulbs, 15 minutes of fiddling around and I once again have low beam.

But if you started with the globes it would have been the fuse.

But both globes at once.

You are unlucky I think. Usually one goes and you hve time to put new bulbs in.

Hey, that's not all that funny! - the exact same thing happened to me last weekend (including going to Supercheap).

I've since ordered a plug in volt meter because one would have to suspect the regulator. All appears to be well otherwise. Went for a 500k ride yesterday and still had two low beams when I got home.

If two lights headlights appear to have blown don't discount the possibility of the starter switch sticking halfway after release.

Even though we have lights on all the time during the start up process the lights turn off (half way point) as you press the starter so the loading on the battery is reduced. I've had the switch stick halfway a couple times.

The other thing I've had is riding on H at night, changing to L and no Lights. Switch back to H and L a couple times and all was fine, dirty contacts in H/L switch.

It's rare for two globes to go out at the same time, at least I haven't had it happen on mine.......yet.
