If the NSW Covid situation improves there is a slight chance I may attend but probably not Theresa. The Gold wing needs a run.

Probably worthwhile keeping it in mind, but if you still have a contact at the Orient, will need to book?

Whatever, make sure we / you are not committed if things change over the next six weeks to the point where some VIC's have to pull out.

Could Terry and Williamson confirm if this is an overnighter or a multiple night RTE and let Brock know so he can change the dates in the subject heading please.

Nigel, it's what you make of it, ie. stay one, two or three nights, or more or none.

I've booked for a BIG4 two bedroom cabin for Friday 12 and Saturday 13 March with the intention of arriving around 4:00pm to 5:00pm Friday (time to check-in, settle-in, have a few sherberts with whoever want to join me, go to the pub [long walk] or dial-a-pizza - basically fit-in with the concensus), loaf around Saturday, perhaps a ride, sherberts Sat arvo, more sherberts, dinner, more sherberts and then leave around 10:00am Sunday.

The rides to and from Mudgee will be indirect, very indirect with at least three stays in country pubs, could get as far north as Grafton or Inverell and as far west as Griffith or Hay.

I'm looking for someone to share the cabin (see this thread - http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=14313.0 (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=14313.0)), and would enjoy the company of another like minded rider (to share the road) and a connoisseur of fine ales, beers and lagers at the overnight stays on country pubs.

Thanks to Brock and Cerebal for tyding-up this thread.

Another item I would find helpful to keep track of attendees would be to list member's Christian names beside their Forum knickname, eg:

Stroppy (Terry)
TipTo (???)
Joso  (???)
Williamson  (Michael)
JohnnyYted in his motorhome with BeeSTie  (Johnny)
Nigel  (Nigel)
Growly Pops  (???)
Don Wooding  (Don)
A2Z  (???)
W.A.G (Glenn)

Please fill your name "in", or PM someone to do this for you.

Finally (for now), I think I saw Natman indicating an intention to attend (may have been on the Forum, or on Facebook), may be he can confirm either way.

Mudgee 2021

My first plan was to take the journey over seven to ten days as a round trip, but I`ve had to cull that a bit.

I still have a booking at Big 4 for Friday thru to Mon.
New plan, is to leave Thurs after work, ride to Rushworth stay and leave Fri morning to arrive around 4.
Other than that, a bit of social networking will probably be in order, and round off a pleasant day.
Sat free day for "whatever" more networking later, perhaps.
Sun have a wander around maybe get some local rides in, then more networking, definitely.
Mon express home.

All deeply depends on Covid at the moment. No joy if borders closed............See what happens...... :thumbs

Shutdown over (and we Vic's are over shutdowns), so Mudgee looking good for now.

Hi gang those of you coming to Mudgee RTE can you please put your name down so we know numbers to book a table for dinner on the sat night

Add me to the dinner booking - although I reserve the right to withdraw if any obvious reasons arise.

Under three weeks, and I'll be on-the-road.   Previous plans for an indirect route on the ride "to" may need to be curtailed, and will need to be curtailed on the ride "from" due to a medical appointment on Wednesday 17 Mar.

Either way, looking forward to the beak, the get together, and a chin wag with some old and new friends.

Only nine more sleeps until we start gathering at Mudgee.

I'm heading off early tomorrow, spending a long, long weekend attending the Cold Flame Rally at Native Dog Flat camp ground (about 50km east of Benambra - https://goo.gl/maps/yDBPZhdkNy1oRHCc6) - well and truly in the bush and no internet.  Will be back on-line on Monday, checking for any last minute Mudgee updates.  Planning to be at Mudgee later afternoon Friday 12 Mar, see yuse then or Saturday.

Had a call from the BIG4 today, apparently I had booked twice, so they cancelled one booking.  As of around 2;00pm I expect they had a cabin available.

ETA, still around 4:00pm to 5:00pm tomorrow.  Have a dozen stubbies of Amber Ale in the esky, hope they have travelled well.  Nigel or I will post an update.

Currently in West Wyalong, copped a fair bit of inclement weather considering it was nice and sunny in Vic this morning. Weather atm in Mudgee is not good , but looks as if it will be clearing tomorrow arvo.

I plan to get away around 10 ,which puts me there around 2?  Sitting behind the storm clouds.
Hopefully dodgeing most of it,  as for dinner, leave it loose.

Solo 1 out..??. :grin

Out

Arrived 2:30pm.  Ahead of schedule - to avoid rain, which I did for all but 5km, not even enough to get wet.

One stubby down, more to go.

Met up with Justin & Alison and Nigel, planning tonight's festivities.

If you're looking for us Nigel is in #12, Justin & Alison in #16 on high side of children's playground, I'm in #6 on low side - just look for the VIC OzSTOC flag.

Okay, Ladies & Gents, the brains trust has determined that there will be a ride tomorrow to Rylstone.  Be at the Big4 entrance at 9:30am, for a 9:45am departure, that means we'll leave no later than 10:00am.

Joso will lead us on a merry ride, if you can't keep up, meet us at Rystone - we'll have lunch at the pub.

Here's a rough map: https://goo.gl/maps/sPkdgYY5oLhqkAXo8

Starters so far are Joso Nigel and me.  We have Justin & Alison and Johnny at the park, Nigel we rustle them up early tomorrow.

Thanks to Joso, Wilko, Johnny and Nigel for attending the RTE at Rylstone.   The ride to and fro ably lead by Wilko (albeit a bit slow), nice cheap (lunches started at $10) at the Rylstone Hotel, Saturday market opposite - a good all round day.

Nana nap now, gotta be awake for the dinner at the Oriental.

Sunday 7 March

Despite a leisurely morning waiting for tent and gazebo to dry, these items were packed away damp to be dry-out at a later time.   By 9:00am I was back on the gravel heading to Omeo, there was no rush because the Mitta Mitta Hiighway was closed for an on-road bicycle and was scheduled to be reopened around 12:00 noon.  Time for a quick shower $5 at the caravan park), fill-up with fuel at Omeo.

Back on the road again, slowly until the Falls Creek turn-off (due to many bicycle stragglers), and then some spirited riding through the twisties, with an occassional stop for some pics.

Near the Glen Valley Hall.

Monday 8 March

After a coupla nights and restless sleep in the bush, I slept in and just got on the road by check-out time, 10:00am, and headed for a late breakfast at Tumbarumbra. Stopped at a lookout overlooking the Murray River and took some pics.

Monday 8 March (cont.)

Most of us have travelled the main highways (Hume Highway, Newell Highway, Olympic Highway and Mid Western Highway) in these parts.  On a coupla of previous trips, and this one I decided to ride the B and C roads.  I also road some D roads, but not through choice, because of a wrong turn.

There are many quaint, unspoilt and quite lovely little towns on these lesser roads, tonight's destination was Boorowa, to get there I took a route through Murrumburrah, and high on the hill was ...

The convent / presbetery look abandoned, but there was some activity, just as well ass it would be a shame to see the grand old abandoned and fall to pieces.

Some parts of the shopping centre had seen better days.

Some silo art in the town.

Overnight at the Boorowa Hotel, Guiness on tap, a pint or five, what more could a traveller ask for?  The pub was very biker friendly, the publican showed the write-up he got in Australian Road Rider.

Tuesday 9 March

Breakfast at the Shamroock Cafe (attached to the pub), with ST and trailer parked out the front, finished packing whilst waiting for my poached eggs, and trouble struck - lock on trailer lid broken, barrel, pins and springs fell on to asphalt - DAMN, HELL, POOP - 45 minutes later, found all pieces, safely stashed in an envelope, on my way.  Whilst I had aedequate gear in my panniers for the rest of the trip (with an extra wash or two), it preyed, dwelled on my mind on the ride.

Stopped at a locksmith in Cowra - it's eff'd mate, so I Googled Bunnings (the lock I got from Bunnings, so expected they would have a replacement - and I was correct), nearest one, closest my route was in Orange.  GPS set for Bunnings, but not before as coupla pics at the old railway station.

And then through ...

If you're planning a trip through this prt of NSW, these towns are worth a visit.

Got to Bunnings, bought a lock, fitted at a workshop (Brad Selmes Mechanical Repirs - no charge - thanks Brad).  Don't bother going to John Spicer over the road, "Can't look at until Thursday", with time lost it was a quick 100km odd sprint to Wellington for the night.

Stayed there at the Central Hotel, $50 for a room, what a dump.  I've stayed in some dumps over the years, this is the only one I won't go back to, even if was $20 - yeah, it was that bad.  At least the $20 meal at the Wing Garden Asian was good.

Wednesday 10 March

Up very early to beat the shower mould, dust mites and bed bugs, left the pub as soon as I could, headed to Gulgong for breakfast.  On the Goolma Road out of Wellington, there is a solar farm, a BIG solar - their website says it generates 420,000MWh per year.   There wasn't a good photo opportunity, but I got this pic from Google.

Makes our 6.6kw domestic system look small.

The road from Gulgong to Merriwa is much travelled, and there are some pics in previous ride reports, but I had a coffee, a sausage roll and a walk at Merriwa.  I took my camera on the walk.

An Angican Church ...

And a coupla old pubs ...

Stopped off at the Info Centre where a little old lady advised that the silo art was worth a visit and a pic or three ...

Was also advised that the Merriwa - Willow Tree Road was closed due to a landslide, I needed to go via Scone and that there were some interesting rock formations on the road to Scone.  Well, two outta three ain't bad.

Then via Tamworth, Bendemeer to Walcha for a coupla nights at the Apsley Arms Hotel (AAH).  The AAH is very biker friendly and at $60 per night was excellent value.

Todays' route ...

Thursday 11 March

The Applsey Arms tariff included a self-serve continental breakfast, the 'fridge was well stocked before I started, but I got my $$ worth.

Today would be short and easy, Armidale to pick-up the Delkevic pipes from Richard, and then a much anticiapted and planned visit to Dangar Falls.  With the pipes bubble wrapped (methinks Richard must work in a bubble wrap factory) tucked away in the trailer by 10:30, it was time to program the GPS for Dangar Falls, this was only about 30km, through Armidale, then some good sealed rural roads, then about 10km of good gravel.

Dangar Falls is a spot I spied on a map many years ago, various plans for a visit had been thwarted, but this time I had plenty of time up my sleeve.  I wasn't disappointed.

Friday 12 March

Another easy run today, almost a reverse of Wednesday's ride, generally Bendemeer, Tamworth, Scone, Merriwa then Mudgee.

On that route is Wallabadah.  On the way north on Wednesday, at Wallabadah, I noticed this sign, so I thought it might be worth stop on the ride south - it was.

Over coffee and a sandwich, I got chatting to the owner and an older couple, caravaners - grey nomads.  The shop was playing some AC/DC, we started reminiscing, when did you first see AC/DC, what was the first concert you went to, etc... it turns out that I was older than them.  I suppose it had to happen one day.

I'd passed the Casilis turn-off many times, but there was time for a visit and some pics ...

Then a leisurely 90km ride to Mudgee, and check-in at at the Big4, catch-up with Nigel, Justin & Alison, Johnny and Joso.

... Friday evening Nigel & I were picked up by the Joso Taxi Service and delivered to the Woolpack Hotel for the best feed of chinese food in Mudgee , and a couple of schooners of refreshing ale.  As mentioned on another page, there isn't anyone, anything, anywhere in Mudgee that Josos doesn't know about - this includes eateries.  If visiting Mudgee, you could do worse that contacting Joso beforehand.

Saturday 13 March

A leisurely start before gathering at the front of the BIG4, three STs, one Spyder and one BMW ...

Apart from a light rain shower (which only slightly dampened my Draggin Jeans denim jacket) on the way into Mudgee on the previous Friday, I had a pleasant sunny days, and despite some heavy rain on Friday and Saturday night, the days were clear.

Sunday 14 March

Yes, heavy overnight rain had me a little worried, so after packing the bike and trailer, I put on my wets and headed south. No rain but a very heavy mist from Ilford to Sofala, but then clear so wets came off.

Stopped for a pic at Blayney ...

Then overcast, threatening rain (but none), wanted to keep going whilst the going was good, Cowra, Young, Coolac, Tumut to Adelong.  Arrive at the pub I booked, sorry mate we're full, here's my booking confirmation on my 'phone, we're full, I head for Tumut.

Overnight Tumut at the Oriental Hotel, very friendly, lots of bikes, good breakfast over the road at The Coffee Peddler ...
