Title: 2019-08-15 Old Noarlunga Ride To Eat

Only a small turnout for this but it was nice to try out a venue I pass every thursday and friday afternoon.

My day started with the usual checking of the GPO Box but as it was a relatively close venue and I still wanted to do some more testing with the the new Ghost camera I left after sunrise.

Interesting that when I upload them to Imghistr they come up with filenames test.jpg0000 instead of the names I gave them like my other photos do but I shan't lose any sleep over it.

Most rides to hills see me depart Adelaide in good weather and rain on the other side, but yesterday was the reverse, leaving Adelaide in drizzle and getting sunshine on the other side.  The sun was well and truly out when I stopped at Mount Barker to change sd cards in the dashcam and put a gopro on the front.  I don't need any more footage of the South Eastern Freeway.

This stone wall was in Woodchester.

Due to something I was going to do on Instagram later in the day I incorporated Strathalbyn, Moana and Port Noarlunga into my ride to Old Noarlunga.  This zinc mine lookout is on the outskirts of Strath' and it was my first visit since 2015.  To be honest you can't really see a lot from this lookout.

I'd learned of this sculpture earlier in the year and did bog laps around Strath' looking for it.  It's a pretty impressive piece of work and deserves more than one photo.

I don't know the name of this monument at Prospect Hill but I refer to it as Dove Rock since from the other side it looks like a dove.  I did take a photo from the other side but the angle of the sun meant it wasn't very good.

Last time I went to Prospect Hill (october 2017) I had a course planned for the day but did notice a sign saying to Willunga and vowed to come back and check that out.  It only took me three years but yesterday I did.  I didn't know it was going to turn to dirt though.  The dirt wasn't too bad, but there were a couple stretches it turned to soft mud which were a bit hairy.  Here's a random Ghost camera shot from Blackfellow Creek.

For over a decade the Sauerbier Homestead art gallery in Port Noarlunga was hidden behind trees and I never knew it was there.  Then one day they cut the trees to reveal this nice building.  Like other things I thought I must check that out one day and it only took three or so years, but yesterday I did, although I didn't go inside.

They've rebuilt this bridge over the Onkaparinga River in Old Noarlunga.  It got washed away when we had heavy rain in 2016.  That and the combined hightide would have meant the Sauerbier Homestead was probably under water too.  I know Saltfleet Bridge was under water as I had to drive a bus over it and got to do a huge detour instead.

This is what the washed away footbridge looked like when I took the tredley out here in 2015.

I was unaware that Langers had invested in a V-strøm until he rocked up on it yesterday.  We had one honda, one kwaka and one suzuki at the RTE yesterday.

I did create a Spotwalla trip but Greeenalp shows a better picture of my ride there.  My ride home was pretty much my daily commute so I didn't run it on the return home.

That's the Kenny Blake sculpture...he was a legend! Unfortunately he was killed at the Isle of Man races back in 1981... :'(
