I'm a great believer in that old saying, "we are, what we eat"......so if you want to stay healthy, make sure that what you're eating is good for you, and you don't over eat!
Smoking is a definite no no
...........I gave that away donkey's years ago, when I was young everyone smoked, but fortunately I wised up before it had an adverse effect. In the Ambulance Service I see so many younger people than myself with respiratory and cardiac problems caused from smoking.
Exercise is every bit as important as eating well...they go hand in hand! I became actively engaged in competitive water skiing from about 28 years of age and spent the next 12 years skiing every weekend of the year (I was a banana bender then), I followed that up with racing catamarans and windsurfing every weekend for many years, then I became interested in Martial Arts and have trained numerous times every week in karate for the past 24 years, I still practice and teach weekly, it's become a way of life for me. Also spent a few years riding and racing a race bike (cycle) in Brisbane 15 years ago, as well as running 4kls every morning before work. I still run 4kls occasionally on the beach here but not quite as often as I should.
I've been fairly active for a very large part of my life, for no other reason than I enjoy it, and it's had the added benefit of keeping me fit and healthy.
I'm very likely one of the oldest members in our club, if not
the oldest, and I'm not saying exactly how old I am, but just for the record, I was born in 1940!!
