Had the dreaded lhs lamp fail within 4000ks of being replaced.
Just fitted these led replacements.

9003 H4 HB2 LED Headlight Kit High Low Beam 6000K 50W Replace Halogen Bulb Kit http://r.ebay.com/4E7GyO

They are Phillips flip chip LEDs (whatever they are) and they have a cooling fan built into the front end rather than hanging out the back like most others. That means externally they're the same.
We'll see how well they work - I'll be right back on here and let you know I'll there's any issue with them.

Yep! I'm looking forward to reading a report, particularly in regard to the low beam cut-off. 2800 Lumens each is quite tidy. It would be very helpful if you could line it up against a blank wall and take some photos for us of the low and high beam patterns.

Im happy to be the ignorant git.
Looked at the link and it appears that the light only shines through one side of the unit - the other side being a heat sink.

Will this work in our headlight units? the globe in mine appears to shine through 360 degrees.

Hoping I am way off course as they look like a neat unit.

I'm guessing a bit here as the photos don't show the whole circumference of the globes. Normally the LOW beam LEDs are on the upper side of the globe and reflects down from the top of the bike's reflector. When HIGH beam is engaged the LEDs on the lower side kick in and fill the upper part of the light pattern from the lower reflector.

With the normal globe, this is achieved via the little shield you see on one part of the filament.

No, the LEDs are both of the top side.
I've taken some pictures but not sure how to get 'em on here.
They aren't as good coverage as my Honda car' s LEDs but I'm happy enough with them - they seem ok on the road. They are high or low beam - the high beam doesn't come on in addition to the low - it would be better but not sure the cooling would be adequate for both on at once.

No, that's the beauty - straight swap except the usual cut off tabs - done both under 10 mins.

It is interesting that the cooling fan is at the the pointy end where I am assuming that there is not much airflow or hot air extraction. The other point that has caught my attention was the comment that only one beam comes on at a time, being 25w, yet they state 50W so one would have thought that the hi and low beam together would be the 50w.

I will keep watching to see how these go over time

Based upon Taffmak's photos, I've fitted a pair of these today. I like the broad flat beam, which should penetrate down the road, and my LED spotties should fill in the gaps nicely. We can have a light comparison at Neville.

I've not done any long distance country/night work with them yet, but I'm pretty happy with the beam pattern, additional brightness over the 65/55 H4's, and low beam cut-off. With the high beam set at the correct height for maximum penetration, low beam is quite flat and close on the road in front of the bike, but that does not seem to be a problem for me. Taffmak's photos give a very good accurate indication of the beam pattern. My LED flood pattern driving lights fill in the roadsides very nicely. I must test them on a good open country road and report back, but nights have been sooooo cold recently.

I liked the fanless D2D gloves that I tried, but they gave a very poor pattern with little difference between high and low beam, resulting in very annoyed oncoming traffic. I've written off the cost of that experiment as a "self education expense".
