Even though it was claimed earlier on that to arrive at design that every one will be happy with will be a bit like herding chickens. There has been great input to creating a jacket that will be suitable for the broadest range of climactic conditions and to suit a large range of rider. The jacket is required to be versatile if it is to meet the requirements of the those in sultry Qld. to the maintaining the core temperature of the southerners.
The design of the jacket seems to have been narrowed down to
1. Touring style length ( but not too long )
2. Cordura 600D with heavier weight Cordura at elbows up to the shoulder area, For added proetection.
3. With CE protection back shoulders elbows for impact protection.
4. Increased ventilation provided by 3 pairs, -6 zips at the front of the jacket - 2 pairs at the chest region and one pair at the bicep region which will be particularly effective because it would be outside the faired region. There will be 2 pairs of zips at the rea to encourage the warm to flow.
5. Waterproof removable Reissa lining. Lining needs to be removable for effective ventilation. Whilst the northerners don’t feel the need for a thermal lining the rest of us do. Just leave it in the pannier when not required.
6. Plenty of pockets 6 pockets at the front, the rear pocket, 2 inside pockets and 2 inside pockets when the lining is removed.
7. Scotchlite for night time visibility across the chest and the back rear
8. The collar to be sueded fleece collar.
9. There was some desire that the neck should be press stud rather than Velcro. I believe Velcro is more flexible for neck measurement and can be closer fitting if required. But you guys need to reach consensus on this.
10. The arms & forearms to be adjustable so the jacket is close fitting.
11. The waist fitting will be adjustable so it will be close fitting.
12. The back of the shoulder to the side seam 5 cm. action panel to enhance comfort.
I have a sample of what the jacket will be based on. (The sample is black) I can meet up with some Victorians for their input. What do you think?
Once consensus is reached, arrangements for the manufacturer to make up a sample to the specifications will be made. This sample once ok d will be the model for the order.
Once consensus is reached pricing will be developed.
The colours to be as specified by ozStoc.
