Unfortunately small orders from countries that only do mass production can take some time
the word here is expectation
think of your new jacket as the delivery of a new child
9 months ago you knew you did your bit
now its up to nature, the cycle of the moon and the gods (not in that order)
not being a betting man but im tipping delivery in WA by mid to late Jan maybe early Feb
any takers
Cheers

I've kind of fallen out of the loop on the jacket thread. Though my understanding from browsing the last few pages of this thread is the jackets have all been made, and are being quality tested at the moment?

If that's correct, I can't image it taking more than a day or two at the most to check, what is in essence, a very small order by clothing production run standards. I reckon you could quality check 80 odd jackets in about 7 hours if you allowed 5 minutes for each jacket?

So the delay does seem odd? Has there actually been a confirmation from the person/company doing the quality testing that they actually have the jackets in their care at present? Or is that just the advice given from the manufacturer?

I'm happy to wait as long as it takes, but it strikes me as odd that the testing part is taking so long?  :think1

As Streak says, you can't hurry these people or they just tell you where to go.  Our little 70 jackets is probably more of a nuisance to him than a bonus.  We may be holding up production of 7000 jackets for ALDI.

In this case it would be Urdu, but you would get the gist of it from the tone.

so there will be 70 Pakis running around Kabul as honorary OzSTOC members wearing mud-stained jackets, maybe riding Honda 50s if they're lucky.
Almost worth the trip over there to see, if I can find a cheap bullet-proof vest.        :eek    :grin

Summary
5 Sep 14   81 jackets pre ordered and paid for
8 Sep 14   Pakistan and India suffer widespread flooding each year during the monsoon season, which runs from June through September.
10 Sep 14   More than 700,000 villagers have been forced to flee their homes.
16 Sep 14   Health problems in the aftermath of the floods (The Guardian)
29 Sep 14   ETA of the Jacket is 2nd to 3rd week of October delivered to you.......at this stage
13 Oct 14   The cut out and embroidery was confirmed as completed last week on all garments
(NB. Jackets were supposed to have been completed and delivered by about now)
23 Oct 14   The devastating floods that went through the area (in Pakistan on 8 Sep) have delayed production
13 Nov 14   they are due into OZ any day now....
14 Nov 14   ... in the last stage of production ...go to quality control ...will be delivered very soon.
9 Dec 14   ... on our doorsteps before xmas ...
10 Jan 15 Jackets landed in Melbourne.
12 Jan 15   DELIVERY WILL BE WEDNESDAY 14/1

Based on the above timeline gleaned from our Forum and the web it would seem plausible that the "devastating" floods could have only delayed the start of jacket production. I've seen nothing on the web that indicates further flooding past 8 Sep.
The way I see it, the spin is that the devastating floods (in Mid-September) some how affected production 10 or more days after the "cut out and embroidery was confirmed as completed" the week before 13 Oct. How does that compute?
I'm not impugning the motives of people on this side of the Indian Ocean, some of whom have worked hard on our behalf to acquire our jackets. But the lawyer in me is starting to smell a large rat at work. I hope I'm wrong.
After all I have the most to lose as I ordered the largest jacket.  :rofl

i think if the floods damged the place where the jackets being made then it might take a little more than a month or two to clean up and re-establish . I remember the delays in Brisvegas when the floods went through there and we have developed country services to help clean etc.

i feel for the pakis who were affected by the flood and hope our jackets are arriving soon.

i sure as poo sticks to a paper towel that your inner lawer is just getting some gas and not getting a real vibe.   :rofl

Anyway when they do arrive it will fantabulos!

My Sopwith Camel doesn't have the range.  I could fetch them from Darwin...

Although on second thoughts, 81 jackets prolly won't fit in the little plane.    :-[

Here is an update from Mark at Zen, as we advised all along as any information that came to us we would pass it on directly to you.....so here it is the communication (email) direct from the supplier to Mark at Zen.

-------- Original Message --------
Subject: update jacket

From: "Mark"

Update,

Goods normally take a day or to clear for loading to shipment then a
couple of days to get to Melbourne followed by about 5 days to get goods
from Australian customs.

Another slight delay.

In the manufacturers words.........

_Thanks Mark for your email and kind words about the terrorist activity
in Pakistan._

_Due to this terrorist activity about 132 innocent children and 12
teachers died._

_All of Pakistan is currently in great sorrow._

_All the parties and working bodies here in Pakistan said one week
condolence._

_People are doing strikes._

_Current Situation is very bad here in Pakistan._

_Labour is not working, schools are short down, banks are not working ._

_Everything is almost short down currently._

_ _

_Our custom agent told us to take the shipment back. It is better at
this point._

_we follow its advise and we took the shipment back from the customs._

_currently it is store in our factory._

_ _

_You can understand, there are some people who want to take benefit
during this situation._

_So due to this reason, we think it is better to store the goods in our
factory rather than in customs wear house._

_ _

_Once the situation is fine. we will move the shipment and accordingly
we will give you the instructions._

_ _

_I am extremely very sorry about that. It is not my control._

_I hope you understand._

_The main reason is we did not want to damage our goods._

_According to my information it will take three to four days and then
everything will be fine._

_Best Regards_

_Yasin_

_Partner_

_ _

The potential for hurdles along the way with this project was always a distinct possibility, particularly when deal with a vast array of events including cultural in our modern world, events that just present without prediction but do have ramafercations downstream.

We hope our next update can bring more positive news about the Jackets, but based on the prototype Jacket that many members had the opportunity to asses and order, we believe the long wait will soon be forgotten when you see the final product.

Cheers

Chris
