Hi everyone,
As you maybe aware I crashed my ST1300 on the 15th on September 2019 (See topic: http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=13566.0 (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=13566.0))
Anyway here is the video from the Blueskysea DV188 cameras on the bike (With commentary)
https://youtu.be/_QEXWlSvfFg (https://youtu.be/_QEXWlSvfFg)

Carrol and I are okay but bruised and the bike is being written off by the insurance company.
Cheers

Ouch....
Get well soon
-
WOW!!! In the blink of an eye everything changed...So glad you are both OK....
-
Thanks guys, I'll keep everyone updated :hatwave
-
Glad you are ok Mate :thumb

I watched on the TV so I could see more detail.
The situation changed so quickly.
I've had a few near misses trying to accelerate when people start moving over, so now, I brake and move left or right as appropriate.
Of course, you have to be very aware of who's behind you.
The reason I do this, is you can usually brake faster than you can accelerate.
Glad to catch up with Carol last night.
How you heal well.
The new option sounds interesting.

Also, I notice you were both wearing the OzSTOC Jackets.
Is it possible to get a crash-dummies report (:grin) on the jacket?

Just an awful situation. So glad it wasn't worse on a personal level. Hope you are both recovering well. Shame they've written off the :wht13.

The jacket did very well (especially when the age and the amount of use is taken into account)
As can be seen in the photos there has been a little damage but it has don it's job well :thumbsup

Too bad the OZSTOC jackets are unique and therefore irreplaceable.

Shiney & Carrol - Ditto with the 'speedy recovery"

Hi Shiney, thanks for posting up the video. That’s pretty darned scary, and I’m amazed you both came out of it with no broken bits. I hope the bruising etc clears up quickly with no unexpected after effects.
Waiting patiently (not) to hear about your cunning plan. I don’t think you two are old enough to join the OzSpyder group, but you never know.... :whistle

Wow Shiney, I cringed when I saw Carrol hit the ground, >:()
Good to see our club jackets held up well. Did you both have the armour pads in?
LQQking forward to see the new plan also. Hope the colour has faded in the bruizes

The insurance company gave me the chance to remove the mods / farkles from the wreck.
So on the 30th the wreck was delivered to my house and for the next 3 days I worked on it with the assistance of Draco :-++
(The one downside to so many mods is it takes so long to remove them)

And I have also purchased a new bike...
It's a 2011 ST1300 :wht13

On my next lot of days off I'll start the long process of installing all the mods / farkles on the new bike :H
And on a final note both Carrol and myself are a lot better, the bruising has gone down and is about 60% recovered :thumbsup
Cheers

That’s terrific mate. It’s good of the insurer to let you defarkle the old bike.
Congrats on the new bike. A casual observer wouldn’t even pick the differences. Smart move getting another white one because we know that they go fastest, especially when you are in the right hand lane on the freeway.
-
Good to hear you are on the mend Shiney & Carrol :clap
-
That's great mate that your insurer allowed you to do that :hatwave
And great to see that you and Carrol are doing so well
:wht13
-
That's awesome news. I too was a tad surprised you were given the opportunity to defarkle the old bike.
-
Congratulations Brother Shiney on your shiney new STeed :runyay. Great to hear you and Carol are healing well :Like:. See you in Tassie :hatwave
-
That is excellent news all-round, allowed to defarkle, a replacement bike and you are both on the improve. :thumb Out of interest, who are you insured with?
-
The insurance company Swann decided to let me defarkle the bike as all the mods added up to a lot of money and they weren't all listed on the policy.

That’s good advertising for Swann :like

I'm with Swann. :thumbsup So did the pipes go unscathed?

Amazingly thanks to the rear crash bars and tip over bars most of the bike survived without issue (The pipes are fine 8) )
Apart from the crash & tip over bars, the damage is just the front of the bike from the forks forward (including the screen and the right hand spotlight) :eek
-
Swann let one of the New England OzSTOC team (sorry can't remember who, way too many opiate painkillers) go defarkle my ST1300 back in Sep 2015. That's how I got so much of it back, including my Icom 400 pro CB, driving lights and top box.
Unfortunately he didn't have enough time and tools you get the MC Cruise or Risers.
I was very grateful for both good effort and Swann's cooperation.

Strewth Shiney- if Swann saw the way the bike is dismantled they'd think you were parting it out and leaving them with the plastic!! :crazy :rofl
-
Good news Shiney that both you & Carol are mending well.
