problems with idle
« on: March 04, 2015, 04:11:27 PM »
Hi guys, I am experiencing  a problem with the idle on the ST1100, last couple of rides I have found the cycle starts easily and idles normally however, after the cycle reaches normal running temperature, it tend to idle at 2000RPM, and after shutting the machine down for a couple of hours, there is a tendency to have to turn the engine over several times before it starts again, little bit frustrating , any advise would be greatly appreciated

While we are on this topic, I wouldn't mind some guidance on tuning.(I'm in WA)

Just done a a complete clean and replaced just about all jets, set screw float needle etc O rings.

Had some fun prior to this with right side.

Now all four fire and I just completed no 3 carb balance but the power is not quite like I remember.

The screw set is set at 2 turns as I couldn't find out whether 1 7/8 or 2 1/2 turns was standard for Oz.

Thanks in advance
Cheers

I posted a reply whilst another was coming through so, I will attempt to go again on the off chance, the answer to your question is, No, 1 I reside on the Gold Coast QLD, No.2 I have indulged in a few wines this afternoon and feel in a great state of mind and No.3, the wife will be home soon and I could find myself in a state if disrepair, However, I will take your advise and have the carbs tuned, thanks and I will attempt to have one for you as well, Regards

Love your work there Muf  :thumbsup

Can you tune the carbs yourself ????? If supplied with the tool.

But no wine before the tuning, only when the job is done  :rofl

Abe, would love the experience to try, never attempted it in the past fairly mechanical minded as I have restored an 1983 GL1100 Aspencade and now ST1100 but never attempted a 4 carby tune

Mate, I truly cant commit myself with the rally at this stage as the wife has annual leave coming up around the same time and her desire is to caravan down the south coast of NSW, however, if that gets put on the back burner, decisions will change for sure
