An overnight stay should be fine without a booking then especially for unpowered sites, and probably for powered sites as well as long as you don’t have a particularly large van.
I'm not sure at the moment whether we camp or have night of luxury in a cabin.
-
I purposely failed to tell them we're a bike club. I just said a group of guys

Hi Kev,
Welcome aboard. We have the same issue with animals (4 legged type) so we leave enough out for an overnight stay.
-
Might be able to get a friend to feed them, if so I will camp over
-
I'm looking at possible route options for the return trip as I'll be taking the most direct route which is 700 km on the way there. Thinking have to get up (5am) in the middle of the night for this one.
-
Warning for everyone travelling to Nelson, be careful travelling near forest plantations, lots of roos and emus in this area.

Attendees need to make your own accommodation arrangements with the Caravan Park.

Only 3 weeks away, now. :hatwave
I must STress for all to take care around Pine Plantations when approaching Nelson from any direction ... lots of roos and emus, especially dawn and dusk, but also daylight hours as well.
I was in Nelson yesterday, and counted 17 roos, 3 emus between 2-3 pm on the way back to Portland. Probably just as many on the Mt Gambier side...
-
Gah. That reminds me I need to book
-
That's why I went there yesterday... I don't have, or use a credit card... cash up front for me.
Is anyone bringing any Ozstoc shop stuff for sale at the meet?, caps?, shirts? etc
-
Sure will, if you let me know what you want I'll make sure I have it packed
-
That's why I went there yesterday... I don't have, or use a credit card... cash up front for me.
Why not a debit card........works like a credit card when you need it but takes the money directly from your account.
-
Hi all, Denis Diane will be at Nelson as NZ just to cramped time wise at the moment. looking forward to trip, Denis.
-
Mens shirt, XL, and a cap would be great thanks, Marcus ++

My bank account is a very temporary storage site... My pension goes in, and I withdraw it within hours, I have cash whenever I need it.
I can argue prices down when I have cash in my hand. Works for me.

Sorry, I have to give this one a miss......a shame as I was looking forward to this one. We've just got Heather a new Helmet and I need one as well. The helmet I was using had one of those seat belt type buckles and it started to fail so at the moment I'm using my old out of date helmet (kept just in case) so a new helmet is more important at the moment.

I will be attending and will meet all the SA guys at the BP Sat morning. Looking forward to the trip.

OK Guys,
Just booked a site at the park, please add my name to the list of attendees.
Has anyone thought about routes from the greater Melbourne area, I had a qiuck look on google maps and can go either: Distances from Ring Road Laverton North
Glenelg Highway ( Ballarat , Skipton, Dunkeld & Hamilton 402 km),
Hamilton Highway (Geelong, Mortlake, Penhurst 413 km),
Princess Highway (Geelong, Colac, Warrnambool 408km)
Im thinking one of these routes to and a different one back. Let me know what you think..
I am also thinking about doing a tour of Princess Margaret Rose cave ( http://www.princessmargaretrosecave.com/index.html (http://www.princessmargaretrosecave.com/index.html) ) on the Sunday Morning (10am) before returning home. If anyone interested in joining me, please let me know and I might be able to prebook as a group and save $4 on admission each. It is definately worth seeing if you havent seen it before.
Cheers,
Hendo
-
I have just booked a non powered camp site at the caravan park too.
Pete, it would best if i meet you at your place, if that's OK?
If so what time would you like me there?

Pete, what time do you anticipate getting back to Adelaide on the Sunday?
:13Candy
Les, I'm guessing now, but if we leave after the caves tour, it's about 460km or a conservative 5.5 hours back to Adelaide, so we'be looking at around 1730 hrs back home. If you weren't going to do the cave tour and left Nelson at 0930, you could expect to be home by 1500hrs. Fish and I plan on visiting the caves.
-
Ok, that's fine. I will ride back with you guys. Won't do the cave tour as done it before, so I will just meet you somewhere. Will discuss on the sat.
-
Hendo, Please
at add me to your list to do the cave tour.

Ladies and Gents,
Have booked the tour of the caves this morning.
The Min. booking was 10 which we have, if anyone else is interested it is fine to increase the booking. The caves from memory are just normal walking with a staircase down, no squeezing through tight passages or anything like that.
Regards,
Hendo

Ladies and Gents,

Nah, mate.. been to the caves twice before.
-
HI, Denis Di, Neil Val, Gary, leaving FRIDAY, staying at Lake Bolac fri night on to Nelson sat am. And on sun after cave trip home via ocean road with overnight stop somewhere about Wye River. that's us see you at Nelson. Denis.
-
Minor Change of plans, I am now staying in a cabin and riding two up.
Proposed Itenarary to Nelson for those interested in joining us. If we see something interesting, stop and have a look. Timing isnt critical
Meet at BP Rockbank(Maccas) at 8:30 for departure at 08:45;
Ride to Linton arrive approx 10:00, Have coffee/break ( Ruby Cocoa) depart 10:30;
Ride to Hamilton arrive approx 12:15, Have Lunch (Bakery/Hotel) depart at 13:15;
Ride to Nelson arrive approx 15:00.
I am thinking something very casual without timings for the return ie Port Fairy, Warrnambool, Terang , Camperdown, ( cut accross to Hamilton Hwy to avoid roadworks on the Princess Hwy) Cressy, Inverleigh, Geelong, Home.
Cheers,
Hendo
-

Hi All,
What a great weekend, weather was a mixed bag but not cold. Great to catch up with the Adelaide team, well done Fish on putting up with all the s.... a... comments and Hendo, thanks for organizing the caves visit. Den & Di plus Val & I encountered steady drizzle and low cloud from Port Campbell, pulled in at Apollo Bay for the night. Light rain to Anglesea on Monday, GOR was brilliant as usual, rain then cleared, Val & I had lunch with Allan & Brenda who we met at WeSToc in Fortuna, California in September this year, currently house minding at Point Cook. Taking them to Yarra Valley, Flowerdale, Wilson's Prom etc :slvr13later this week. They then head north to visit their daughter in Condoblin NSW for Xmas, on to Sydney before going back to Canada.
1174 km's, av 17.8 km's /l, all 2 up, bike ran real sweet and handled the wet like it was dry.
Cheers
Neil & Val :like

A special thanks to Marcus, for going that extra step.... I now have a cap, and sticker is fitted below number plate, just waiting now for shirt to be posted.
More Ozstoc goodies will be ordered/purchased when I attend Toowoomba in March.
