That's a huge step forward.  Now to redevelop those riding muscles!      :clap

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I got another ride in yesterday
The Wild Rose rides again short ride  :hatwave
6 mates and I did short coffee run to Pittsworth yesterday for brunch
Even though I had been catching up with my mates for coffee runs in my car it was great to finally do it on my bike again
We only rode about 90km for the day, arm got a bit sore again but like Biggles said I will have to get arm ride fit again
Looking forward to our next coffee ride before I attempt a longer run or overnighter or OzSTOC RTE

On Monday the 4th February my employer is sending me to be assessed for a return to work
So don't know what I will have to all do
I guess climbing up and down ladders to see if I can get up on loco then arm strength checks to see if I do the shunting required by my job
The Surgeon looking after me said it could take up too 2 years or never fully recover
It will be nearly 9 months since the fall and lot recovery exercises to get me this far
Not looking forward to shift work again but that goes with thejob

It's important to get back to work to feel you've beaten the prang and to regain employment satisfaction if train driving is something you love doing.
Have you simulated climbing up onto the engine e.g by climbing a fairly steep ladder? (Please don't fall off while trying!!)

I go swimming/walking in the local pool 3 times a week while there I climb up & down the ladder a dozen times as it is good for recovery

I failed my medical for my return to work
If it was just my arm I would have got clearance but I have a crook right knee which I have had for 20 years plus, so a combination of the two makes me a bit unstable at times
So back to the surgeon for another 3 months off and a trip to the physio to work on my problems
That will take me up to 12 months since the off in May last year  :fp
If the physio doesn't work I may have to get a replacement knee
I don't know if it all worth it I might just have to retire and live off my hard working wife
No one tell Robyn I said that
Well she will have to keep me in the lifestyle I'm used too  :like

That's no good.  Does your employment have a thing called 'light duties'?  I know mine does, but having never been in that situation not sure exactly what it entails, other than those who have been off on work cover come back and do small tasks around the depot or sit at interchanges and record what time buses arrive and depart.  That said, I don't think the company does anything with collected data but bin it.

Unfortunately no light duties. I asked that when I had the off
It's either I can do the job or not
So after 43 years they just throw you in the scrap heap   :OldMan
