Wiring harness question

Hi All
Noticed today when i was resetting the computer codes on my st1300 that a previous owner has cut into the wiring harness and there is evidence of something being connected into the harness.
It has been repaired with ye olde crimp joiners but i was curious to know if anyone has an idea of why the harness would have been tampered with.
It is in the area where the computer access plug is.
Any suggestions?
Cheers Todd

The reasons could be many, a pic of the wire concerned and the area its in might help.
The computer connector should be in the rear, taped to the loom,
