Title: A pie trail ride
Post by: saaz on December 28, 2013, 11:09:26 AM
An older article got me thinking about a bit of a ride to a few of the places mentioned here. Would make a good day loop ride down Brown Mountain then up the coast.  Don't have a date yet, just have to see what interest there is.

I like the idea of a Pie Run, and this could open the door for "Themed" rides.

In SA we have a ride, commonly referred to as the "Six Ferries Ride", whereby we can cross the River Murray six times by ferry in roughly a 450km day ride.  The route looks something like the attached, but Google Maps has failed to cross the river at at all the ferries.     The route goes from Adelaide, and crosswes the Murray at  Wellington, Tailem Bend, Mannum, Purnong, Walkers Flat and Swan Reach.

I think we need some themed rides tailored to each state.  We don't have many ferries here, but since the drought broke some have opened up again.  Long way between them though, from Sydney area down to Albury.  But Sydney area has a few ferries.

Have to go have a  :think1 as there are spaces in the longer term ride calendar.

Saaz, I could be interested in a 'Pie Ride', depending on the date, and as long as I can have at least one Vanilla Slice along the way.   :EatCake :EatCake

Bakeries? I actually prefer the newer Bakery at the western end of Robertson, good food. Cobargo Bakery is also good. But a pies a pie and although I don't eat as many these days as I once did, I still love them.

Isn't it funny how bikers generally associate rides and towns with the local Bakery.

I associate long rides with Maccas.  Their McCafe Cappucinos are quite acceptable and after a night run, a Bacon and Egg McMuffin for brekky is delectable.      :wink1

+1 for Maccas, but not the menu choice or the time of day.

:think1 After Port Augusta it would be a long ride to each of the next Maccas at either Kalgoorlie or Alice Springs
