Title: Another Screen Question
Post by: Pat Mcrutch on December 29, 2015, 07:33:36 PM
I just got a ST1100 don't know why I didn't get one 20 years ago, but I have the same problem that a lot have with screens the first ride I had was 7 hours and I had to ride with the visor open because of the wind noise in the helmet the screen is standard and I'm 5' 10" or 5' 11", I have read a lot about the size of screens and everybody seems to have different ideas on whats needed.
I found this deflector that may fit the bill as it looks to be very adjustable and I was wondering if anybody has had any thing to do with them,  "MRA X-Creen Touring Aufsatz" any help on which way to go would very helpful.

Welcome Pat,

I have a "Screen for Bikes" from Peter and are very pleased with the quality of the product and the cost.

I got the higher and wider model  :thumbs

If you want quiet and less buffetting I suggest the bike quip one. Not australian but it just works. A318 delivered to your door.

Hi Pat,

I'm about the same height as you and I found the OEM screen caused most of the airflow to hit my helmet at about eye level causing me some muscle strain in my neck. I put up until about 5 years ago when I found a 10cm higher screen so most air flow goes over the top of my helmet now. My current helmet is a little noisy but I found that leaving the visor open a couple of notches reduces that a lot.

I'm hoping the budget allows for a new screen later this year as the one I have now is from the UK is crazing (like little cracks). The local Screen for Bikes will do me this time as I can one done that looks close to OEM with the extra height I want.

well I bit the bullet and bought the X-Creen with the clamps all up $263 to the door so not much less than a new screen but I'm glad I did I could not believe how good the bloody thing is after a few adjustments no noise and no buffeting, very happy after 500k ride feel like doing another 500.

Good outcome Pat.  :thumb   The noisy screen was my biggest annoyance with the ST, and I solved it with the BikeQuip screen, so I'm pleased by found a solution that suits you.
