My hobby is "playing and singing in a rockabilly, country & western band". I also mend guitars.

Looks like we need a RTE to one of your performances, maybe an overnighter if it is an evening show?

You Sir, have a fan ++...and if that axe your playing is one of your creations, I'm impressed :thumb...& a tad envious :grin

I'm a bit of a Bill Kirchen fan, though arguebly he is more dieselbilly, but hey close enough. Love to hear U play one day.

Ta for posting.

Cheers, the can:-)

Thanks Can for the encouragement. The guitar that I am playing is a highly modified 'Burns' special. I also us an Epiphone Sheraton which is also highly modified. Diesel billy is basically the same type of music - Bill Kirchen is a bit of a legend.

Whoa! True story, while in London last year I came sooo close to bringing home a Burns Steer with me. Loved its tone n sound, but just could not quite come around to it quirky look :eek. Mind U, I suspect the pic U posted is of a proper London made and built Burns.

So as mentioned, being a bit of a BK fan and having Son #1 take me to a Joe Bonamassa gig shortly after we returned from Europe, got myself a localy luthier (second hand), made '51 replica Tele. Now all I have to do is learn to play it properly to give it justice. My recent crash, has put that back a tad!

Cheers, an thanks again  :thumb, the can

PS...If U ever come across a '64/'65 sunburst Maton Freshman with bridge / neck humbuckers like you have on your Epiphone and with 5 screw hole repairs on the face near the neck...I'd love to buy it back...most regretful sale I made when we moved to Victoria in the late 80's.

Thank U for the offer, much appreciate, but tyranny of distance eh!

I actually had a crack at playing the tele this arvo, but 15 rib fractures and a pinned n plated clavicle soon put a stop to that! Oh well, back to scales I guess just to toughen up the finger tips when I can eventually hold on to it again...in the meantime, there is always youtube :thumb

Cheerio, the can :-)

Hi roger.
There are probably a few here with a musical background. I've played trumpet since childhood. A heart attack and loosing 5 front teeth bought my playing and gigs to a crashing end.loosing 5 front teeth is about as disastrous as it gets for a brass player, and means rebuilding playing technique from scratch. I've taken on a gig with an opera orchestra,so I am now practicing my arse off to get ready for the first show next month. There's nothing like the fear of public humiliation to make you focus on a practice routine....
Cheers
Laurie
