I'm guessing that val = Valvoline and you have is this one which I would not use on a bike with a wet clutch. You need an oil with this "JASO MA" standard included in the specs

http://www.valvoline.com.au/explore-our-products/car/engine-oil/passenger-car-motor-oil/vps-15w40-engine-oil (http://www.valvoline.com.au/explore-our-products/car/engine-oil/passenger-car-motor-oil/vps-15w40-engine-oil)

The gear oil for the final drive is just standard diff oil and mostly comes these days as a 80/90 blend and the brand shouldn't matter

 :bl11 thanks for that,yep the final drive oil is pretty easy to work out, guess I'll use the oil I have for the car,ha ha.
I'll have another look for engine oil,many of club members suggest diesel oils,

                                       cheers    :thumbs :thumbs

I bought a 10L drum of Penrite HPR Diesel 15W40 semi synth to use in the bikes. I have 3 to do oil changes in so for me this is the best and most economical way to do it. The HPR is listed by Penrite for bikes and from my experience it works as well as any.

 :bl11,Hi all,
                 All done, went with the shell felix 15w-40,and penrite 80/90 gear oil, needn't have worried with gear oil, oil in it was like new,  anyway got 600k trip comin up,so see how they perform.

                                       Cheers    Rob   :-++
