Title: VIC RTE's 2020
Post by: Williamson on October 15, 2019, 07:22:59 PM
Time to rattle the old brain bucket and get involved and offer some ideas for next year......

A timely reminder to get things going in VIC.

So okay VIC OzSTOCers and Touring Wannabees, time for you ALL to submit nominations for RTE's in 2020.  So nominate your preferred destination along with lunch, dinner and / or accomodation venues.

As a reminder, I have tried to pin all of the RTE locations on the attached map.

(https://i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu159/williamson_photos/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/RTE%20ALL%20Map_zps88wondie.png) (https://s643.photobucket.com/user/williamson_photos/media/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/RTE%20ALL%20Map_zps88wondie.png.html)

It would be good to have a new location, I'm sure plenty are available.

So, who is gunna nominate their preferences first?

Interstate nominations welcome.

Mmmm .......... I think that would be an overnighter.   If you have any other ideas re. lunch, dinner and accomodation venues, now's your chance.

And another thought on Mildura, I'll get my people to talk to your people re. a Two State Overnighter in Mildura.  And if any of the NSW or ACT crew want to make it a three / four state & territory get-together, who am I to stand intheir way?

Have you planned anything for march?  Asking before I commit to something else.

Yes, and it might suit you, at least a little better than some of the alternatives.  Here's a DRAFT calendar for VIC RTE 2020

(https://i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu159/williamson_photos/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/Calendar%20Version%201_zpsnpjpmepc.png) (https://s643.photobucket.com/user/williamson_photos/media/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/Calendar%20Version%201_zpsnpjpmepc.png.html)

The Tallangatta event did not occur because of the bushfires, Walhalla is a goer next weekend, I need to add the RTE Avonsleigh on 29 February, and then organise something for Curdievael / Boggy Creek Hotel for 7 March, stand by for a thread on that one.

For the months of April, May, June and July - we will be in the UK, IRE & EUR so won't have time to organise events for those months.   I have asked Garry & Marcus to help each other with RTE arrangements for those months.  When I return in July, there'll be plenty of time to organise RTE for the rest of the year.

I have a suggested location... Maldon, Victoria

I spent some time there today doing some photography.  It is a nice run in from the Freeway, and then a nice ride out towards Castlemaine, or Daylesford depending on which direction you need to go.

Not sure where, the hotel seems nice, but not sure about accommodating lots of people for Lunch... the Maldon Cafe was nice, a bit slow on the food, again not sure about how many they can accommodate, they are right next door to the hotel.

It's time we can start planning VIC RTE's in-line with the latest advice from the VIC Government. Here's an extract from the DHHS website:

Under the proposed plan, restaurants, cafes and and other hospitality businesses will be able to resume dine-in service:
Full details here: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/gradual-re-opening-cafes-restaurants-to-dine-in-customers-from-June (https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/gradual-re-opening-cafes-restaurants-to-dine-in-customers-from-June)

I have been chatting with Garry (ppopeye), we have concluded that an RTE may be achievable up to or including Sunday 21 June 2020, and only if there is a suitable venue, and host, that is wiling to accomodate 10 to 20 of us.  This is likely to be at a venue that we have previousy attended which we know has a suitable enclosed space for our little group, and because the host will know us as being reliable in filling a booking.

So when we have a venue and a date, I'll post an RTE thread, people will be able to indicate their attendance (or not).  I'll need to draw a line at 20.

So, in the meantime, keeps some dates free if you can.  To assist, here are a few Saturday, Sunday and Queen's Birthday dates to keep in mind.

(https://i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu159/williamson_photos/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/June%20Calenda%20V2r_zps5y9vlx6u.png) (https://s643.photobucket.com/user/williamson_photos/media/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/June%20Calenda%20V2r_zps5y9vlx6u.png.html)

Finally, let me know if there are any dates that do not suit, and these will be kept in mind.

The VIC RTE Executive will need to decide on if no. 21 to indicate their preference to attend is an ST rider takes preference over a BMTroubleyou rider.

Stand by for a decision.

Travel restrictions relaxed here in VIC, but not enough to organise an RTE as yet, that might come in two weeks, an announcement of a further relaxation of restrictions has been forecast for Sunday 1 November, so some planning can occur in the meantime.

Here's what I have in mind:

Open to suggestions and discussion.

Probably closer to Melbourne than Lakes. At this point we are still only allowed. 25km from home. We hope that rule changes in time for any RTE. No guarantee yet..

... Hopefully you'll get something and people can attend.  You guys need a break.

No argument there.

Patience Grasshopper.  You'll get plenty of notice.

This will be a day RTE, not an overnighter (although some may plan otherwise), as Lake Entrance is getting a little to far for some of us to go their and back in a day - some would, some won't.  A Lakes Entrance overnighter, probably won't be at least unitil Feb or Mar ... 2021.
