AFL Grand Final
« on: October 25, 2020, 12:38:56 PM »
I sat down and watched the AFL Grand Final last night seeing that it was in Queensland
Whell that's 2 hrs I won't get back
They dropped the ball and knocked it on all night and the referee did not even penalise them
Then they stopped and had a rest every 20 minutes

I sat down and watched the AFL Grand Final as well, because it was two VIC teams.  Didn't watch much, poor standard, that's generally been a problem for a couple of years now, too defensive, spoilling the other team, negative, umpiring is inconsistent.  I've mostly lost interest, unless my Team (Western Bulldogs) is playing, and then playing well.

I think the only people that could genuinely say that lasts night's match was a good match, would be Richmond supporters.

That's one thing I don't understand about Rugby League, if someone could explain that and the other rules to me, I'd find it more enjoyable when the Storm kick ass.  Looking forward to tonight's game.

I went to bed before it kicked off.  I enjoyed those two hours very much.

p.s. Mr Rose forgot to mention how much they handled the ball.  We don't call it Clayton's football for nothing.

I guess if I want to post up a big smile when the Panthers beat the storm I have to put my hand up for them now, as in before the Grand Final starts.

Should be a cracking game whatever the outcome. I'm torn between seeing the Panthers get up after 17 years or sending Cameron Smith out on the high he so deserves.

If you think of forward being the direction a player is facing when he is facing the opponents try line he can only pass the ball to a teammate behind himself. In other words a player can only move the ball forward by carrying or kicking it.

Oh, I understand what a foward pass is, I just don't understand, or seem much point in not being able to pass the ball forward when the object of the game is to move the ball forward.  Pass the ball back, to go forward - it's not logical.  Yes, players often do that in Aussie Rules, but presumably / hopefully to maintain possession, but it's not compulsory.

Not wanting to throw petrol onto a fire (but I will). In Union they definitely apply the forward pass rule - League? well sort of, or perhaps they set the cameras to make it a little ambiguous. Union also have honest scrums and any number of other things that make the game very attractive to watch. Union is (apparently) the game they play in heaven. It is also the game where the greatest player who walked the earth had the nickname of "Nobody" (oh, and he just happened to be Australian - John Eales).  What I do like about the Rugby codes is the Ref is treated with respect and I'm not aware of them running about calling players by nicknames etc and having friendly banter - pretty unprofessional in my view.

Mainly to slow play up because they can't run the whole match.

John Eales closely follows several  St George Greats, Reg Gasnier, Graeme Langlands, Johnny Raper, Billy Smith and Norm Provan then there are those outside of St George

Great game except we had a lightning storm with 15 min to go so turned the TV off
Must have been when the panthers made a big come back
But Melbourne Storm blew them away in the first half
Bring on State of Origin  :hatwave :hatwave

Me too..

Many years ago, my daughter brought home an activity sheet to do as home work, one of the questions was "Who is the Captain of the Brisbane Broncos??"

I attached a note to the sheet (home work not done) saying "How is my daughter expected to know the Captain of some Qld rodeo team??". Those photocopied sheets never came home again..

All good guys. If we were all interested in the same things, the world would be a very dull place indeed. Except for the interest in riding motorcycles of course. That clearly, is not an issue. EVERYBODY is into that, correct?  8)
