Title: 10,000 km service intervals
Post by: Veebiker72 on February 22, 2015, 05:33:49 AM
My ST is approaching 50,000kms! and was thinking of stretching the service intervals to 10,000kms. I have  been previously following the 6000km intervals , but seems to me to be an overkill. Any thoughts.?.?

Honda interval is around 12,500kms so 10,000kms is still more frequent. I was using 15,000kms or so at times for the ST1100 depending on trips I was doing. The ST motors are relatively easy on oil so change intervals are not as crucial as on older air cooled bikes. MY GS1000 Suzuki was 2500km oil change, 5000km filter change.

Thanks for that Shiney and Saaz, I felt I was forking out a bit too frequently. Litigation is probably too blame for the ultra conservative service intervals, I see it in my own trade.

I too was a bit surprised when I looked properly at the maintenance schedule in the service manual and saw that oil changes were at 12,000km intervals as I thought it was supposed to be 6000.
All that oil that I've wasted :(

All that oil that I've wasted :(

Not to mention the hassles doing the change.  I've had lots that were easier.
