Waikerie RTE Ride Report
« on: May 19, 2018, 09:52:21 PM »
I left early this morning and headed for Murray Bridge where I had planned to be at first light, but it was well and truly still dark so I refuelled and got some breakfast.

Interesting name for a road in Ettrick.

Nice view, shame about the weather.  Actually by this time most of the drizzle had dried up but the rain gear stayed on for an extra layer.

I got myself a trailer in Swan reach, but I mustn't have hooked it up properly because it was still there when we returned for afternoon tea.

From their I detoured off to Maggea and took Maggea Road to Waikerie, rode out the other side and headed for Morgan to the river punt.  That and Caddell were the only two I had never crossed.

I did Cadell on the way back.

There were seven of us for lunch and it was a very enjoyable afternoon.  This is just some of the bikes that were there.  John G and myself had parked on the opposite side of the road.

Spot didn't kick in until I was in Callington for some reason but was okay for the rest of the trip.

The ferry rides added an extra dimension.  Pity about the weather!
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Unfortunately we can't do much about the weather, but I like riding regardless.  I'll go back on a better day one day.
