Darwin is about half way through my trip distance, and has been a lovely opportunity to spend some time with family here. The bike was serviced today, and is ready for the second half of the trip. Tonight we had dinner on the wharf with Wendy and Blueowl, and hatched the plan. Wendy and I will leave Darwin on Saturday morning and ride to Kununurra in WA. Up until now the pace has been pretty cruise, and I am anxious to be on the move again, and the company will be welcome.

Tour Day 38. Wendy and Pete will be travelling to Katherine today.
A moderate run of a little over 300 Km, hopefully with minimal holiday traffic.

Darwin Forecast for today, sunny 34°C. Katherine, similar.

Well, Pete and Wendy hit the road this morning sometime around 7am, and are now well past Pine Creek, about 250 Km already today, and roughly just 60km from Katherine.

3.30pm. By my estimate, they are now about 65 Km from Kununurra, and just 20 km from Checkpoint Charlie W.A. border crossing.

Wendy and I had a good days ride today, one of those days where the travel is easy and mind and body are "in the groove". This mindset was disturbed by a moron who was cruising up the Stuart Highway near Pine Creek (130 zone) on the wrong side of the road

. and who took some convincing that he was on my bit of the road. Coffee at Katherine, and short breaks at Victoria River and Timber Creek made up our day. After riding at 130km/h since Camoweal on the QLD border, getting back into the 110km/h zone in WA feels a bit slow.

The ride from Kununurra to Halls Creek, is stunning in the early morning.

On both times I rode through, I left Kununurra just on Sunrise.

This trip is really inspiring me to do it again.
