Title: SA RTE Ideas for 2020
Post by: alans1100 on October 15, 2019, 02:54:08 PM
Time to rattle the old brain bucket and get involved and offer some ideas for next year.

Looking for at least one overnight location and six or seven DAY RTEs spaced out over the year maybe every five to seven weeks.

Don't forget that anyone at any time can put up a ride to any location if they want company but just give two or three weeks notice.

Thanking you for your input.

2020 National Rally Dates and State......

16 - 18 October 2020 in NSW. (Location TBA)

In the meantime I did contact Wirrabara Hotel but they only do evening meals unless they have a booking of 10 or more people for lunch.

Sunday 16th February The Uraidla Hotel, Uraidla

Saturday 14th March Port Victoria Hotel Port Victoria - this could be an optional overnighter for those that wish to do so.

Saturday 1st August SA/WA RTE/Border Ride - Border Village

National Rally - NSW 16-18 th October 2020 - location to be advised

:agro: I  know we didn't get to the flinders region in 2019 due to Murphy's law , but a trip to Blinman or Rawnlsey park as an overnighter could be a option in spring ( hopefully we could have some rain by then )  just a suggestion to think about .

Good Suggestion John.   :thumbsup    North to the Flinders Ranges is a great ride, and my favourite route is through Saddleworth, Spalding, Jamestown, Melrose, Wilmington, Qourn etc.    There is limited accomodation in Binman, but options at Wilpena and Rawnsley Park.

Maybe third time lucky and some from SA might actually make it. Sept/Oct is a good time for the native flora

November ?? Port Victoria - Could be an over nighter for some.

It depends on how picky they are on minimum nights.  We did Marion Bay in a day last year after every accommodation option there insisted on a minimum of two nights.

Checked out Port Victoria Caravan park yesterday and didn't see any minimum night stays on their web site; again it's just an option for anyone who wants to stay the night.

I've added the ones published to the RTE Map

Day time RTEs have a knife and fork icon, overnight RTEs have a bed icon and Dec Christmas ones have a Christmas tree icon.

At our Uraidla RTE today, we had were discussing programing an SA RTE in April, out of school holidays and certainly not over Easter.   That pretty well leaves us with Saturday 4th April.
Ideas that were raised were....
Burra Bakery  -  https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Coffee-Shop/Burra-Bakery-179260025426742/ (https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Coffee-Shop/Burra-Bakery-179260025426742/)
Emily's Bistro at Quorn  -  https://www.greatnorthernlodge.com.au/ (https://www.greatnorthernlodge.com.au/)
Let me know what you reckon about those or add a suggestion, and I'll pick and post an RTE for that weekend based upon the feedback.

I've also realised we have no ride in March.

I am on leave from 4 April to 19 April, so either destination suits me.

Depends on shifts for Sandra if one or two attends.

Quorn would be the preferred, but so would Burra, slightly more in favour of Quorn.

If both of us, would probably be a DTE, with camper trailer attached to take advantage of booked leave.

Quorn looks like a good distance.

I've never had lunch in Quorn so I'd be happy with that.

My vote would be for Quorn.    It is about 325km from Gepps Cross, which makes it a reasonable 650km return trip for the day, and Emily's Bisto is great.

Either is fine by Julie & me (I haven't spoken to Julie at this stage). We'd  probably o/night somewhere rather than rush back in the afternoon.

I agree.  If Chris comes, we will make it an overnight, but if I am going on my own, it will be a return day trip.

Add to the calendar, seems to be agreement on date and location?

Quorn Caravan Park looks to be $29 unpowered and $36 powered site.

If Sandra not working that time, we'd do an overnight stay as well.

I vote for Quorn too...even if it's very unlikely I'll be going... :grin

Been a few years since my last visit there on a bike...1989 (Worlds End Rally out at Warren Gorge) if my memory serves me correctly.
