Here's a small wood-oven/cooker/hot smoker that I've recently made from an old 9kg gas bottle. We're still testing it to work out the best coal bed size, and cooking time etc.

I saw this in an old metal working book, and made it many year ago. I've fitted a metal cutting disk to one side of a bench grinder, with a rest that can be moved back and forth as the disk wears. It's extremely handy for making small rough cuts, and slots in thin material and so on. I tend not to use it for material over about 3mm thick.

Here's my latest project, which is a birthday gift for my daughter. It's a back yard fire pit made from a 16 inch steel rim and a smaller rim, but with a swing over BBQ grill. The chain is purely for decoration.

Here is my home made flat pack fire pit....
Folds flat and interlocks together....just 5 bits plus the tent pegs to sit the billy, pan or BBQ plate on. All fits in a canvas bag.
Great for when you want a fire and no pit exists.....sticks with the "tread lightly" outdoors theme :like

Was a really hi-tech piece of equipment that has served me well for a number of years....not a plasma cutter no no !! free hand with a 4" angle grinder and a 2.5mm cut off wheel and a fine file.
I have a smaller one also that I made from 16g Stainless sheet.....it was for just the 2 of us in the bike camper.

It's interesting to see the two completely different approaches to achieve the same end. Chris's concept is practical, lightweight and flat-packable, whereas mine is heavy, decorative and would probably survive a direct hit from missile (or the toddlers).

We have a wood box in the lounge and when I get a bit enthusiastic with filling it, the wood hits the wall behind the box and leaves a mark. With time on my hands during "Lockdown 2020" I decided to get a bit creative and have added a decorative metal screen to the back of the box to protect the wall. It fits nicely with the decor of the room.

These last few days I've been attempting to make a mounting bracket for my Tyre Pressure Monitoring System out of stainless steel resulting in pretty mixed results and lots of swearing. :law

It's pretty much done now anyhow.
Just finished fitting it onto the front brake master cylinder mount.
It looks okay, in fact a blind man would be happy to see it! :whistle
I'm yet to fit the sensors but thought I'd leave them to another day as I'm off for a ride with Sue tomorrow and didn't want to risk things until I'd had enough time to trial it all...

That's great ruSTynutz. I used a similar concept for the heated grip controller on my ST, and also for the CB radio mount on my current Beemer. I turned up a couple of short cylindrical spacers to go between the new plate and the handgrip casting and then used some slightly longer cup head (allen key) screws to hold it all in place.

Very nice work guys. Been mixing concrete myself and making couple of 2.7 by 2.3 high gates for neighbor. Took four off us to hang the bloody things. Getting bike out as good days at moment over weekend. Stay safe all Denis Diane.

Thanks Pete...I actually got the idea from the bracket used on my heated grip controller!
I'm not sure if the bracket came with the grips or if the previous owner fabricated it but it inspired me to use a similar design.
I was going to use aluminium for the main bracket but thought it may not be strong enough unless I went for something probably twice as thick as the stainless steel. In hindsight it would certainly have been much easier to work!
I too needed some cylindrical spaces but I cheated, I just used some appropriate sized aluminium tubing and cut some from that... :grin
I used slightly longer bolts as well...Luckily I had a jar of assorted bolts etc I'd purchased years ago from a motorcycle wrecking yard.
Making the bracket was actually more complicated than it looks as the tpms was designed to be mounted on the handlebar so had part of the mount on the back along with the charging point. I had to cut an appropriately shaped hole so the tpms sat flush on the bracket.

I have just finished making a copy of a "Tree Popper", a cunning device for pulling out substantial woody weeds and small saplings. See http://www.treepopper.com.au/ (http://www.treepopper.com.au/) My neighbour who is clearing olives from a creek bed on his land borrowed one from somewhere, and reckoned it was seriously useful. I thought I could make a similar device, so here's my copy of a "Tree Popper", which is now more or less community property for anyone around me who has a need.
