My First ST1100

Hi all I just want to introduce myself to you all on this fine site. My name is Mark and I live at Gympie Qld.
I've been riding bikes since 1976 when I got the first mono shock yamy D250D that hit Gaythorne Yamaha, I was in the Army at Enoggera
6 R.A.R. I progressed to the XT500's shortly after in 1978, I raced my bikes in enduro races for a while till I got married in 1979. I did 3 trips in that period from Brisbane to Townsville and back on my enduro bikes the first on a DT250D- second on a DT400D and then the XT500 they were 2 day trips and I was hooked.
Since those days I have had a lot of big singles and loved riding them, my last being a Honda NX650 that I rebuilt in 2011. I'm a little old now for the adventure bikes and have been doing a lot of research into the bike that would suite my needs and the ST1100 is that bike.
I am now retired due to my injuries from the military but it does not stop me riding as it keeps me young.
any way hope to bump into some of you at some stage when Im on the road

Welcome from Meringandan.  I too have fond memories of the old DT250 in the 70's.  Hope you enjoy the forum.  The ST1100 is a good reliable mile eater,

Yeah Philbo the DT250D were ahead of there time, I actually put an IT250D head on it and a different exhaust and a 4 gallon Pacifico plastic tank and it went like the clappers, rode it to Townsville and back and also raced it at enduro events was a beaut bike. ahhhh the memories.
