ST1300 Tank Rod (Stay) total length Measurement?
« on: August 02, 2014, 08:26:15 PM »
Would and kind soul be able to measure thier tank rod holder (dont get wise, it's not that type of website.. :wink1)

The "stay" is located under the pillion seat, under the left side of the rubber tool bag strap)

Mine was missing from when I bought the bike.... :'(

I have been using para-cord (string) to hold the tank upwards. I attach to the front neck hole and to the rear grab handle, it works well, but I would like to have the original rod.

I have just made one using a long tent peg, just want to confirm if possible?
many thanks  :-++

Plus I wanted to see if I could be the first to respond (personal challenge for a Measurement specialist)  :grin

Measurement Uncertainty, didn't someone threaten me with a smiting if I brought that up?  :Stirpot

Ue ± 0.2 mm k = 2 degrees of freedom = 60.  :p

And I cut one end off mine because the change in handlebar position due to the bar risers means I can't lift the tank as high.
Just thought it was some info that is worth having.

Total length (end-to-end)is exactly 12 inches in length. The bends at the end are 1/4 inch each

[/quote]

Can't find my original dwg to update it but :-
Dia = 5 mm
A = 15 mm
B = 15 mm
Assuming both ends are identical then:-
D = 15 mm
E = 15 mm
Using the 12 inches from above C will = 305 - (2 x 15) = 275

I don't know what the 1/4" quoted above refers to.
