'Laundrygate' saga
« on: October 27, 2015, 05:01:22 PM »
Maybe a bit harsh, but I made my point.

Behind my unit is a gate which leads to the laundry.

On the opposite side of the driveway is an access gate from the car parking area to the units.

The young guy who lives in the unit across from me has a habit of leaving the laundry gate open.

Naturally, when the wind blows, the gate swings and bangs repeatedly on my wall.

I have ASKED the offender to close the gate after use.

I have TOLD him to close the gate after use.

His excuse is that he has his arms full of washing.
(So?... Put it down, and walk back 15 metres and close the gate?)

Last night at 6pm, he washed his laundry, (AND left the bloody gate open again!)

This morning, the wind started huffing, the gate started banging.

I got dressed at 3.45 am, and went outside.

1) I proceeded to bang the access gate on HIS wall until his lights went on...
...at which I hid behind the wheelie bins.

2) He came outside and put a rock against the gate to hold it against the wall, and returned inside.

... after a few minutes, the light went out, and he returned to bed.

I removed the rock, (Refer to above, step 1 again.)

This time when he came out, he secured the gate in the closed position.
...Then he heard the laundry gate banging  in the breeze, so he walked around the back to close that gate as well.

I whipped into my unit, and scribbled on a piece of paper... “Aggravating, isn’t it?”

And slipped it under his door before he returned.....

Ha Ha Ha!!! Bloody fantastic! I've been quietly plotting against an annoying neighbour of mine for over a year now, you may have inspired me!

This habit of his only started since "Mummy" recently stopped doing his washing for him. Fer chrissakes!! ... he is 22 years old!...
At his age, I was already married, had completed my apprenticeship, owned and operated a taxi cab licence as a sideline, and employed 3 casual drivers!
(AND I didn't leave gates open, or fail to put out the trash)

Next training effort will be to teach him to put his rubbish bin out for collection on Tuesday nights.
He has a habit of filling his own bin to overflowing, not putting it out for collection, and then dumping his excess garbage into everyone else's bin for the next week.  This will change.

I love it!

When I was in uni I had a neighbour that thought it was fun to come home at all hours making noise, singing, waking everybody up...
we had enough after a few months of this, and proceeded to 'look after' her keys she left in the door one night.

She was all worried since she 'lost' her keys that she couldn't go out that night. being the nice neighbour I was I offered to make sure nobody broke in since I was planning on a late night of assignments...

On cue, they all left.. let the games begin.

Sticks under the sheets, short sheet the bed, alarm set for 4:30 am, lots of items on top of the bathroom door, and various other nastys....
on cue they come home at 3am making all sorts of drunken noise..

to find the keys on the floor next to the bed.
and the fun began, all sorts of crashing and banging as things fall down
swearing as they can't get in the bed
more swearing when they can't find the alarm thats going off
and I had a nice warm shower (this is in the middle of winter in toowoomba)  at 6:30 and used all the hot water.. which woke them up, only to have a cold shower..

They never said a word
They were very quiet coming home after that  :grin

Seems one of the other neighbours has commenced his bin training...

I went out to bring the empty bins in from the roadside at 9.30 am, and there is a large bag of his own garbage outside the offenders doorway.
Obviously removed from another bin before it went out last night.

As he doesn't bother to get out of bed until after midday, he is unaware of this. Bag will probably rip apart as he tries to come out the door, which swings outwards.
Meanwhile, his own bin is still filled to overflowing again.

AHA!... the Playstation is active!... he is awake! (10.29 am)

(Should I crank up the volume on my sound system, and play some bagpipe music to drown out his noise?.... Nah!....I will let the other neighbours complain about his noise...)

11.04 am Well, from the verbal outburst which I just heard, regarding religion, fornication, and dubious parentage, I guess he has just tried to exit his unit.

Very clever... he has now wheeled his overfilled bin to the footpath for collection...
I am unsure if he is 4 hours late, or 6 days and twenty hours early.

To be fair, it does take awhile to learn the routine of mail, garbage, rent timetables etc after moving to a new address, but he has been here now for almost 2 years...?

He has finally admitted defeat  ... He cannot understand why his wheelie bin is the only one on the street which is still full?

I watched from the kitchen window, as he checked other bins on the street.  :grin :crackup

Not wanting to complain, but any video footage of his activities would be greatly appreciated. Much funnier to watch and replay. Just saying!

I agree, but its a bit hard to video someone in the dark, and remain hidden at 4am?
Door is open at the moment, cats are taking a walk outside.

Mummy just drove in, and I overheard him saying how tired he was at work this afternoon, after being up all night.

All night???

Work for the dole, 20 hours per week, .... 6 hours each Mon, Tues, Fri, and 4 pm til 6 pm today Wednesday. (Trolley boy, Woolies.)

 Diddums.

Life Lessons... Some people are taught, others learn by experience. Some good, some bad.

Positive rewards in Dog training.
When your dog does something right, reinforce your approval of his actions by giving him a reward... food treats work well.

Today was a hot day, I was outside attempting to knock back the growth of a 'Shiny Leaf' weed/shrub/tree which has started to encroach on the driveway.

A hot and bothered black Lab X trotted across the road, and flopped panting under the shade of a tree on the footpath.
I put some water into an icecream bucket and took it out to the footpath. The Lab stood up, and had a good long drink, wagging his tail in appreciation. He rested awhile longer as I continued cutting back the annoying growth.

Now, 'Twinkletoes' across the driveway from me, the notorious 'Leave the gate open' menace, arrived home from wherever and as is his wont, kicked his boots off outside before entering and then closing his door.

The Lab climbed to his feet, and wandered past me to give the boots the 'Sniff Test'

Obviously they failed, so the dog proceeded to strain the recently ingested fluid through his kidneys, and liberally sprinkled the boots, within and without.

I entered my door, and grabbed a piece of bacon which was gratefully accepted by the dog. Hopefully this will be perceived by the Lab as a 'Do it again and get more rewards' type of feeling, which I encouraged by patting him profusely, and repeatedly telling him, "Good Dog!... Good Dog!"
