When travelling to North Queensland stop at the Railway Hotel in Ravenswood, approx 130 Ks from Townsville. The Railway Hotel is the first you come to when arriving in this almost Ghost Town, it is motorcycle friendly and a good place to put ones head down after a few coldies at the bar.
Ravenswood used to have 42 pubs back in its heyday, it now has 2. The old smoke stacks from the gold mines are still there and the town has a strange feeling to it if you come from a big city. Townsville was built as the port for Charters Towers and Ravenswood back in the gold rush days.
