I came across this link, which looks very useful it you are about to embark on building a trailer for your motorcycle.

Thanks for that .It is interesting and those NSW. Regulations seem to get overly complicated don't they?
Just from my 2c worth here in W.A. here seems to be several different, regulatory,  clauses, and requirements. However in my reading of the relevant literature put out from our RTA. there seems to be some ambiguous statements , but they cover their bums, by all ways referring back to some obscure and complicated standards bulletin,  in which it appears that they, the Vehicle Inspection people, are the only ones that are allowed to decipher and make some arbitrary rulings on, no matter how illogical that might seem.
For instance there was no mention of the single wheel trailer construction,Or the legality of, or the maximum height restrictions for a two wheel box type trailer, and there were several other items etc. However this could be because the author just happened to gloss over those topics.

I can only suggest that if anyone is contemplating a trailer build of any type at all, that they do their own comprehensive research as pertaining to their perceived needs, and the compliance required by their local state authority.

I could go on and on but that would only get tiresome.

I remember seeing something like this in motorcycle magazines a couple of years ago. Not sure if they had any impact in our market.

"Vehicle Standards Bulletin 1"  or "VSB1" gives all the required details for construction standards for a small trailer, and this is a national standard.   Here's a link.
