Ideas Please
« on: November 06, 2012, 03:26:57 PM »
Hi All,

need some suggestions here, I have noticed some scratches and what looks like rubber marks on the top of my Panniers. I am assuming they are from my lovely missus not lifting her feet high enough when she gets on or off the bike. :well :spank

a couple are deep enough to need respraying but most are just scuff marks, any suggestions on what I can use to protect them until / after I get them sprayed? :rd13

Buying the missus her own bike and single seating mine has eliminated any boot marks on the panniers for me.. heeeheeeheeeheee  :rofl :rofl :rofl

The protection film is probably a good idea too.

I just had a look at the 2012 ST1300 model at Power Sport Honda in the US.

http://powersports.honda.com/2012/st1300/build.aspx if the link works ok, select next and a list of accessories comes up......This is a US site but a local dealer should be able to get them.

Found this part number 08P76-MCS-100 for a Saddlebag Scuff Pad Set

Set of two black polyurethane pads provides an additional layer of cushion between the passenger's heels and the front corners of the saddlebags.

Won't good ol Kitten No.2 cut n polish get most of the scratches out - or No. 1 if they are only scuff marks. Try this before applying the film of course.

Go and see your local signwriter.  They have a clear, flexible stick-on film that they could fit to the top of your panniers.   I had it fitted on my panniers and the knee cut-outs on the fairing, and it's only visible if you go looking.  I don't know the cost, 'cause my son (signwriter) did it for me.
