Thanks for the add, recent ST1300 owner from north west Tassie. I bought my new baby a 2005 model, early this year. It apparently has some suspension work done, it handles very nicely. I bought it with the intention of doing some long distance touring. With that in mind, I'm off to Perth next year, not my first trip over but the first on a bike. As this is the first tourer I've had, I'm looking forward to it.

Welcome bucket, you've got yourself a great bike as I reckon the 2005 model is the pick of the crop! :grin

Hello and a warm welcome from Adelaide. You'll probably pass this way on you way to/from Perth. Keep an eye on our calendar (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?board=26.0) and see if one of our Ride To Eats line up with your movements.

Thanks for the welcome all. I had my first longish run a couple of weeks ago, around 550 kms from home to Oatlands (for a bike show) and back, nearly on one tank. Pulled up a lot better than my last run down there on a Harley!

Welcome to OzSTOC, from NE Melbourne.

Hope you can fit this into next year's plans, just in case you missed earlier posts.
The NatRally 2024 is in Mansfield VIC, here's some details: http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=15194.0 (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=15194.0)

Whereabouts in NW Tassie are you from? You might be able to show us some "new" roads on our next visit over there.

Unfortunately i can't make the national rally, I leave for Perth a couple of weeks after those dates and can't change my booking on the boat without paying out a fair bit extra. I live on the NW coast and this area has some great roads, including the Hellyer Gorge, great in the dry, not so good in the wet. Both the east and west coast are worth the trip over and anyone that's coming over, let me know, I can make some suggestions. I am a former Victorian, having been a member of the now defunct Caulfield Institute of Technology MCC many years ago.

Our 2019 National Rally was in Port Sorell, on Tassie's north coast. I tried to see as much of the state as I could when over there for that.

I did a semester at CIT back in the 70's, moved on to Footscray Tech and then Swinburne Higher Institute of Technology. I think the students added the "Higher" because it made a good acronym.

RMIT, Caulfield, Footscray Tech and Swinburne all had MCCs and we regularly got together for race meetings etc. I didn't actually go to Caulfield, but had many friends there in the mid-late '70's. I think Caulfield alone had a paid up membership in excess of 80 odd at it's peak. Looks like you covered the state well Bodo, you defnintely got most of the good roads in by the look of it.

A bit like Curtin Universtiy of Technology being referred to as Curtin University of New Technology.
