As the founder of the concept of the Not the Nat Rally RTE, I approve of this.

Michael, this should be (Not) National on a state by state basis. :thumbsup

I'm just keeping my options open.  SA news the other night said border closures could be one of the last restrictions to be lifted so I haven't committed to anything yet, although I haven't cancelled my Mudgee accommodation yet.  I'll probably contact them tomorrow to see what they suggest regarding transferring my booking until march.  Work is a bit of a mess as well as our area is getting taken over by new contractors but after cancelling so much already I am itching to go somewhere.

I ended up moving my October booking to the 2021 dates, but am looking at all the options being proposed for the October weekend including Mudgee and Lakes Entrance. Border openings could influence my final decision.

I have bookings for both october and march, and annual leave request submitted for both.  Both annual leave requests are yet to be confirmed but as the new company took over this week I didn't expect an answer until at least the third week.

About time for a BUMP, and an update.

I'm sure everyone is aware of the current VIC COVID situation, and whilst some of the restrictions are, err restrictive, I'm sure (hoping?) that we'll be okay to travel to this event by Friday 16 October 2020 - it is after all, 71 days away.  No end date has been nominated (that a quick Google could reveal, someone will be along soon if I'm wrong) but six weeks has been bandied about and that takes us to Monday 14 September 2020.  So with this event in another 30 days, we should be okay.

Re. accommodation, I have heard back from Woodbine Tourist Park, and they are happy at this stage to accommodate us, but numbers will be capped.  Not a COVID cap, but a Woodbine cap.  This because they have limited number of cabins (x 3) and a house (x 1), there of course plenty of powered caravan sites.  None are for the budget conscious - cabins approx. $145 per couple per night, sites $35 - $40 per night.  The booking page indicates that these are already booked, but I have been advised that this is not the case.

Anyways, another Google reveals plenty of motels and holiday flats for around $100 per couple per night (more for us to spend on beer, aye Nigel!), so I'll send some emails to alternative venues, and post an update.

Just as an observation, these guys perhaps, need to be a little careful about what their charging for accommodation.
Things are extremely lean at he moment, I would have thought that getting people thru the door, is far more important than pitching for upmarket accommodation.

Well, for the Melbournians anyway.  Yuse folk in the Regions, from beyond the Fringe may still be able to attend.  Suppose I really don't know what you can do, where you can travel, have not kept pace with that stuff.  Assuming you have free travel within VIC (except for the Metro area), more than a few could attend.  Might be a bit inconvenient for the likes of Kev Murhpy (he's probably in the most difficult location) to travel to Lakes Entrance via Mansfield or Omeo, and then return.

For those that don't read the Facbook page.

At this satge I am not prepared to say that this event will proceed.

Whilst the COVID restrictions (as currently listed on the DHHS website) are to be relaxed on 28 September, thus allowing travel to, and gathering, at Lakes Entrance, there are two factors which may have an impact, these are:

1.  The dates may be changed - shortened (which would be good) or extended (bad).

2.  Melbournians might not be welcome in rural VIC.

Re. #2, listening to talk-back radio here in Melbourne, some callers from rural VIC have indicated that Melbournians will be welcome, some have indicated that we won't be welcome.  I'll keep my ear to the radio speaker for the next three weeks or so.  If the mood improves, we may be okay.

Given the uncertainty, I will not progressing with the T-shirts.
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

For what it is worth Michael, I would be happy to still get Tee shirts even if dates are changed, but am also aware that you would need a minimum quantity . . .

Unless social and travel retrictions are relaxed prior to the target date of Monday 26 October, 2020, it means that we will NOT be able to proceed with the "Not-the-NatRally (VIC) Lakes Entrance - Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October, 2020".

IF, IF, IF ... the Melbourne Metro area does extremely well with supressing new COVID cases, Dan-the-Man may decide to relax the restrictions earlier.   But for the event to proceed, any relaxing of restrictions would need to be announced early enough to allow enough time for everyone involved (OzSTOCers and Lake Entrance hosts) to get organised.  I'm thinking this would need to be by Friday 2 October - that gives us two weeks.

And then there are the buts and maybes ...
