Hi there all. prospective st1100 buyer, looking to add another bike to the stable more suited to the longer distances i need to travel these days.
living up in the NW Victoria Region.
User name, mcwolf, combo of Michael and last name, together with a Scottish twist of being frugal, spending on my wonderful wife, tools and toys, and the Billy lids in that order. maybe only 1/32of actual diluted Scottish blood with a few other varities thrown in to produce a well rounded fellow.
It is easier to make the stable bigger............ he who has the most toys wins. Use it spend it cause you can't take it with ya, besides the inheriters statistically waste it fast, unless you have mega$$$$$$$$ and the process is longer, rant rave waffle, over
I started riding in 1972 approx, a english scooter, possibly Bsa, on the farm with the ubiquitous honda 90 trail, followed by the more serious xl125. got in to serious trouble one sunny sunday arvo starting up the older brothers dkw 125 boondocker, was never allowed to go near it after that. A guy up Brisbane way had one for sale on gumtree a few months back, would have loved to get my paws on that one.got my bike licence a week or so after turning 15 on another honda beasty, a cg125, baby road bike, served me well getting to work potato picking 6 week season, then to a job production welding for 18 months. It was a slow bike, took all day to travel 160km as there where pubs every 30 odd kilometers. A plethora of bikes have come and gone some highlights and no so high, Yammy R5y 350 2 stroker, 79 Bonnie, Bsa Bantam, Bennelli mini bike like the honda monkey bikes, cb900, scooters, nifty 50, yammy jog , piaggio fly wife and i use to take on sunday jaunt's.
Currently in the stable 86 & 88 Sportsters, 99 Triumph Tiger 885i. the 86 is a project bike, the 88 chopped, raked, stretched, lowered and bored, a fun little ride though not much fun with the rough roads in the NW, She was on Club plates and is going back on in the next month. Hence the Tiger loves the free ranging roads, soakes up the irregularities with aplomb, good for dashing to Bunnings and the super markets 120km+ away, abit longer if i take some of the gravel roads. Though not much fun or comfort on trips to Melbourne, Or through the wet sticky Mallee Mud we have ATM
Why do i want and older St ? I do most of my own maintenance, need something reliable, comfortable to do the longer trips, have an affinity for older machines, not to happy with the efi Tiger, right arm get tired hanging on to the grip all the time and the fuel ecomomy sucks when it keeps dropping.
i do need to slow down a bit.
Looks like i just missed out on a good bike that was advertised on here a week or so ago, So.......... if anyone knows of a good bike in Victoria for sale hit me up please.
Mick
