Pannier locking mechanism
The Dave:
The locking mechanism on both panniers on my 02 1300 have decided to start playing up around the same time.
Closing the left hand side has been an occasional PITA but now both have decided to become very fussy to both lock/open or attach/detach.
Should I be looking for any known issues?
Thanks
StinkyPete:
I'd take them to a decent locksmith to see if they can sort them out. We have a really good one in the southern suburbs of Adelaide that I've used from time to time, but that may not be of any assistance depending on where you are.
ruSTynutz:
I t might seem stupid but have you tried spraying the mechanism and inside the actual lock with some silicone spray such as this?

PC:
I had one of my panniers behaving similar what I discovered was after removing some crash bars I hadn’t torqued the rear bolts on the foot peg plate properly and they had loosened which seemed to misaligned things
Hope you are able to sort the problem
Peter

I’ve used that fix several times.
