This is the day after we have the Finniss RTE if anyone wants to try and include both on for the weekend.

I did it in 2016.  Sundays are usually tricky for me but closer to the date may be able to say for sure.

I won't be going, as I'm not a fan of large group rides after a couple of bad experiences.  Too many loony riders all competing with each other in a small space. :fp

Large group rides aren't generally my thing either, but I want to do this at least once since learning about it.  From my one experience if it's hot standing around waiting for it to kick off is very uncomfortable.  Parking up and going in wasn't my thing either and I can understand why many riders ride through Callington and make their own course after that.  I didn't knwo about tinselling up the bike or carrying candy but I was glad I experienced it once.

Not sure if I'd do it, I like the sentiment behind it and standing on a freeway bridge watching the procession is impressive, all those bikes moving in a group.

But too many inexperienced riders likely to make an impulsive move.

For those that like to do it, this is advance notice.

Fire in Callington this morning.  Some of the stuff used in this event were totally destroyed apparently.

He lost a huge amount of his collection.  Around 50 vintage cars and bikes in two sheds according to the news.  Heart-breaking for the poor beggar.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Such bad news.  All I thought of straight off was to get the building officers down there from work to review & make sure safe  :'(

Could be beggar now.

but both poor bugger & beggar is spot on in the Strine dialect.

I did the ride about 3 years ago with the GHOST Riders (Grey  Haired Old Sports Tourers) group leaving from Strathalbyn. We arrived at Callington about 15 minutes before the main group from town. It was the best way to do it. It was made even better by following, on the ride home on the freeway, a lad on a sports bike with his young lady who wore very tight jeans and a t shirt which insisted on riding up. I felt it my duty to ride quite closely behind to protect her modesty from voyeuristic car drivers.

Sadly no, Bodo. I was expecting an unremarkable ride back along the freeway so didn't bother turning it on.  :'(
