yesterday I told half of a STory about my purchasing a new bike. well seeing as its no longer a big secret, I better come clean, last Saturday @ team moto Maroochydore I test rode a 2017,  1330cc F3S Daytona Special Sports Can=Am Spyder that I'd named BEEst.
I want to keep riding but as I progress my left side is getting weak so I lQQked into my options to tow the coffin.
LQQk at my FaceBook page for more on this and why I now call the BEEst a new name ,, LEMON. today has me all puckered up in emotion as my BEEst transformed into a BEEst of Burden.. here's a few pics.
the BEEst is not fit for purpose.. BUGGA.

It sure is purty!  Your recognition of your need to get off two wheels is wise, albeit sad.
Sorry about the towing restriction.  Maybe you can trade it on a model that can tow- I presume they build one.
I see a lot of them around- they're obviously gaining popularity.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I also must admit that the Spyder range of "bikes" has bubbled away in the back of my mind if the time came that I could not manage the weight of GhoST .  I am sorry to read that you can't tow,  but there may be a solution.  At Albany I spent some time chatting with a couple with a Spyder RTS who were towing  a big trailer.  Most of the criticisms of the spyders, including the twitchy handling,  can be dealt with.   Have a look at their forum. http://www.spyderryders.net.au/forum/index.php

Johnny, I read your FB post, it's not clear to me if Can-Am indicate you can't tow with the Daytona or you can't fit a tow bar to the Daytona, IMHO there's a difference.

Option 1

If it is the former, and if the Classic tow bar fits, it could be fitted as rear end protection or to fit a bicycle rack to carry a bicycle (doh!) or a wheel chair.  I have heard, but not seen, of a wheel chair on the back of a Spyder, someone else may know more or even have a pic.

I can foresee the following scenario ...... a problem arises in the warranty, Daytona is presented to Can-Am dealer, "So sorry sir, you have towed with the Daytona, warranty is void".  "I have not!"  "You have a tow bar, what's that for then?"  Then show them pics of a bicycle (or wheelchair - that might get more sympathy) on a rack on the tow bar.

If someone went down this path, it would very prudent of them not to post reports or pics on any Forum or social media of them not towing with their Daytona.

Option 2

Spyder Forum - I am sure others have encountered this problem, see how they have solved it.

Option 2

There's more than one way to skin a cat.

After test riding a Spyder at the Ulysses AGM at Penrith a few years back, I thought there may be a Spyder in my future (when the back, hips and / or knees pack up), but before then my preference would be a side car.

There are other benifits too.

Owning a Spyder wont get you kicked out, it takes something far more serious than that. We even keep Hardley riders..

I should know, I do the kicking.

The Spyder would be good choice, wouldnt mind one myself.

The not towing thing is a standard for bikes as even the 1100 has the same warning in the owners manual.

And I'm not the only one on the planet that tows a trailer with my 1100 and I'm sure the same warning applies to the 1300; just checked and includes side cars as well.

Thanks for all the input guys, the issue is only Spyder Daytona as the cpu unit cant handle the odd reading relating to the push/pull weight on the frame sensors ONLY in the Daytona.
Williamson the classic towbar fits I would have it on now but I rang Can-Am Aust. and checked about the factory warranty. It will void Daytona only. Other Can-Ams are able to tow and I have spoken with other owners. The other 2 Spyders I test rode both had towbars, I just got smitten when I test rode the BEEst.
I will keep this BEEst and lQQK at either of the 998 spyders 2010 models or a 1330 cc new 2018 runout model. I will be seeing Can-Am dealers on Tuesday to talk about deals either outright buy or a deal involving the BEEst.
I was devastated  when I did check with Can Am and in no way would I want to void warranty til 2021. There other possibilities for me to explore. I am just not stupid enough to void warranty.
I will keep this thread updated as things hapn
till then I'll enjoy the fun and Superiority Status of owning a special limited edition  Daytona 1330 cc Spyder.

:blk13 :dred11 Can Am BEEstY Daytona.
Today I picked up a few Farkles, boy oh boy Spyder bits are NOT cheap. I got a SOLO seat POD conversion $579.34, and new set of handlebars $195.00 to replace the drag-bars that are on him, Pannier Bag liners $119.34 and a brake linkage $47.52 to shorten the right foot peg and brake pedal position..
I also looked at a white F3 T that IS  able to tow, its a new 2017 considerably marked down. It lacks the topbox but if I buy it as a tow-bike I wont really need one. The topbox that fits BEEstY is $2517.00  so I think he'll just be my quick trip BEEst. I can always strap my unused swag on in SUMMER,,
