The ST is mainly for passenger comfort. Happy wife, happy life. I'm not too fussed on the footpegs of the ST being so close to the ground for spirited cornering. Trading the all-rounder for (nearly) all-comfort was never my ultimate goal, so I'll probably be keeping the CBR1000F for awhile, until I can upgrade the wife's GS500F. (the CBR500 may be OK for her and as a commuter for me??)

I'll have to start looking for options and suppliers of CC's, by the sound of it. I'm not too fussed on the vacuum chamber being mounted on the left hand side and exposed like that.

Regards
John

Sounds like you waited just long enough to get the best bike at the best price.  Pity about all those uncomfortable years spent waiting.  At least you were on a Honda back then.
I'm sure the new servo driven CCs will be great.  However I've heard of no failures of the vacuum system, archaic as it may be.

Yeah, "Comfort" is a relative thing. Trust me, the CBR1000F is still far more comfortable than the ST in the winding mountain roads, such as the Gillies Highway, Mt Spec and Mt Stuart etc. I'll probably have to buy a CBR500 for around town and the solo "fun" rides.
