Newbie from Toowoomba
« on: September 25, 2013, 11:29:20 AM »
Hi all, a great forum.  I have ridden on and off for about 30 years now but have been without a bike for the last few years until 3 weeks ago when I bought a ST1300.  What an awesome bike, love it and have ridden it pretty much every day since buying it.  It is my day to day ride to get to work and my weekender to get away.

Hoping to meet up with some other members around the Toowoomba area and participate in some weekend rides.

My 11 y/o son has never been on a bike before but I can't keep him off the back of it with me.  As soon as he sees me get the key he is helmet on and on the back before I get out the door.

Stay safe and ride safe all

Nice looking ST13.  Congrats.  Where did you find it?

Show your pillion how to clean the bike properly (not just hosed off) so he can pay his way.   :grin
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Thanks for the welcome all.  The photo was taken on my wife's phone, a samsung, always turns them upside down.  After looking for about a month with a price range in mind I found this one down in Brisbane at Virginia.  I rode 4 but this seemed to be the one that suited me.  A bit high in the. K's - 95k but has a full service history from day one with all requirements completed on time.  Funny thing is the bike comes from Queanbeyan brand new and the person who bought it lived two streets over from me when he bought it 2003 when I lived there.

Next up is a pair of boots for the boy, the jacket was a good buy from the pawn shop for $20.  New gloves and new helmet for him.

Love reading about the mods that others have made to their bikes and the accessories that have been added, gives me some ideas.

Welcome from near your old home!  95K is nothing much on an ST13 when well looked after.  They are a rough crew up there so I hope you will bring in some class   :beer

Lovely to have you here and a warm welcome to you and your son, may I offer some humble advise from a mum and a pillion with your son as a pillion ?? Ditch the boots with the laces or tape them up. Kids and shoes laces are a pain at best of times but on a bike  |-i.

Enjoy the OzSToc experience  :hatwave
