G'day everyone,
I have recently installed a new set of 20 Watt Spotlights I got from from Streak's business "Australian Moto Gear & Clothing" (https://www.austmotogear.com.au/product/spot-light (https://www.austmotogear.com.au/product/spot-light))
Below is a two part video review I did on them:
http://youtu.be/QvTARpV9KNQ (http://youtu.be/QvTARpV9KNQ)
http://youtu.be/F2Z8InsEwRo (http://youtu.be/F2Z8InsEwRo)
In answer to a request for some static shots that may show the light a bit better I have added some photos below to show the difference between Low, High and High + Spotlights :thumbsup
* Please note that I am using aftermarket headlights (3200lm LED Hi/LO beam 35watt h4 Headlight Bulbs)
(https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Super-bright-3200lm-h4-led-headlight-hi-lo-beam-car-led-h4-Headlamp-Bulb-35w-12V/32221003713.html (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Super-bright-3200lm-h4-led-headlight-hi-lo-beam-car-led-h4-Headlamp-Bulb-35w-12V/32221003713.html))

I found the lights to be very easy to install and put out an awesome amount of light for such a small unit WOW:
They also look really good on my ST :thumb :runyay
Anyway, if you are looking for an unobtrusive set of spotlights that put out some very nice light down the road I reckon these are the way to go :thumbsup
Also OzSTOC get a 10% discount :thumbsup

Again very nicely presented video's. :clap
I would like to see still photos sowing the three settings low, high, high + d'lights. As the auto exposure on the video does help show the full potential of any light set up. Wot thuh
Now eagerly await a review on the soon to be released 40w LED lights. :whistle

Great review Shiney, both vids well spoken, filmed and a very descriptive review. Thanks :thumbsup

Thanks for the demo. Had to smile at how easily they installed. :wink1
The beam is impressively narrow. Most LED driving lights, including those that call themselves "spots", throw a wider spray of light.

How do these compare to 55W HID driving lights which supposedly push out 5000 lumens?

These are 1280 Lumens but only 1.7 Amps each.

How do these compare to 55W HID driving lights which supposedly push out 5000 lumens?
HID's are a thing of the past...55w has huge current draw & delayed time to full power plus the whiteout from roadside signs...these are only small LED's with low current draw, 1.7amp and 1200 odd lumens...some LED's like Clearwater Erica, Bajadedign Squadron and Rigid Industries Dually D2 have between 10-22amp and between 3000-6000 lumen...instant on, no whiteout and if set with controller like IQSkene can be both daytime running light at 40% on low beam and full power on high beam....comes down to how much night riding you do, where you do it and how much $$$ you want to spend.
Have run 3 bikes with HID headlights/running lights/spot lights and now on 4th bike with LED's via a controller. LED's win hands down

I don't use mine that often maybe about 6 times since fitted nearly 2 years ago. I went for the Euro beam pattern and I haven't had any issues with road signs that I've noticed. At $49 for the pair I can't complain.

between 10-22amp
I would not use LEDs with this draw, there is nothing to be gained over standard 100 Watt bulbs (8 ish Amps each)

I think my two 55W HIDs come in at about 9 or 10 amps (110W/12V = 9.1Amps or is it 110/12.8 = 8.59)

The wattage is rated at a nominal 12 volts

Great conversation everyone, LED lighting is getting better and better, i have been doing extensive work on finding quality lights on 3 levels GOOD, BETTER & BEST, the 20W Shiney has are the good lights for under $200 a pair, i have found, tested and ordered some 40W LED spot lights that will fall into the better lights catagory for under $300 a pair, i am yet to find lights that i am confident fall into the best section, as i have not found the performance i am looking for
With all my hunting around i look for the following:
Lux/Lumens/Watts
Build Quality
Depth of reflectors
Type of chip
Mounting Bracket
Waterproof
Shock Proof
Dust Proof
Has to have an IP68 rating
Has a reputable company suppling me with decent warrentys
The main advice i can give on LED is do your research, a high watt/lumen light does not mean performance, they can have all that then the actual light is built on the cheap with small reflectors and you will get no distance or spread.
What I have learnt in the last 4 months researching LED lighting has totally changed my view on what is good and bad in the marketplace
Cheers

I would think the 40% on low beam at night would also be good for better vision.

They do show the difference. I'm a bit surprised pix 2 and 3 in each set are so similar, but the third one does show the road that rises in the distance whereas the high beam doesn't.
-
Excellent pics that show the penetration down the road.
My Ericas do the same but I need better light to the sides because this I where I've been ambushed twice by roos at night. I did not see them coming until milliseconds before the impacts.
I'm still waiting for FLIR to drop in price from $3,500. It's a lot to pay for FLIR but it may be worth it if it prevents the type of roo encounter that FarRider Cuddles recently endured.

I'd be interested in taking these photos using a fixed ISO and aperture.
Unfortunately as good as the Samsung cameras are, they automatically adjust their ISO and aperture depending on the light presented to them.
I think the lights will actually look better with fixed settings.
