Not sure if any of you guys will have an interest but these are custom made crash bars that can be supplied in 1" or 11/8" diameter and can also be made with or without the siren bracket (for civilian bikes). Bars are mounted at the top directly onto the frame tubing using industrial u-bolts and are secured at the base to the existing tip-over bars, standard on the ST1100. No welding is required but it is necessary to cut the tip-over bar covers.
Price includes mounting hardware plus a choice of either black or white powder-coating. US$300 plus Shipping.

I agree that they do 'stick out' a bit that they were designed that way to try and protect the rear bags as well as the front plastics. I do prefer the look of the bike without them.....but I hope they will serve me well if (read when) I actually do drop the bike!

Thanks for the pictures. This style is very common on the police bikes as it allows the motor officer to lay the bike down at slow speed, especially if they are chasing a runner, without doing too much damage to the plastics, etc.
The various crash bars for the ST1100 were originally made by a company located up the coast just north of Los Angeles. I called them several times to see if they could make more sets but was told that they no longer had the jigs available....after 9 years I think they assumed that the 1100 was never coming back! After following up on countless dead-end leads I decided to go it alone and have a set fabricated.
I'm still getting used to the extra width, especially when splitting lanes, but I do like the additional protection, just in case the bike ever does decide to greet Mother Earth!

Are you looking for the 'police' or 'civilian' style? The police style has an additional bracket for siren, etc. If you need a civilian model I have one extra available.....it was a cancelled order. The unit has been powder-coated (black). Thanks

I agree the second lot (front only) appear to be a better design especially if the overall width of the bike isn't increased.
I can't work out the attachment points bottom and top - anyone help in this regard?
I have a local guy here in Brisbane that could make them up in polished aluminium.
Let me know if interested and I'll get some prices based on the numbers.
