Now is someone going to come clean and tell the truth about my "2 for 1" meal deal or will I have to spin a yarn ??????

Okay okay - I'll come clean.....      :-X

When they took our lunch orders at Murphy's Creek Pub - the lady wrote down "SB" to mean seafood basket - but the kitchen staff thought she meant "Steak Burger" so all these steakies kept coming to the table with no apparent owner.       :eek

Skip obligingly said that he would have the steakie so as not to cause havoc. The gals were so impressed, they bought him out a complimentary 'bit of seafood' as a nice gesture. Trouble is - Skip had just wolfed down the steak burger and found it quite a job to stuff in even more food on top of that!        :rofl        :eat :eat :eat :eat :eat :eat

But being the good sport and tuff ST Owner that he is - Skip got the job done. - well done mate.       :thumb

ok
where do the bits come from ...where ever they are sold
how much                          .... what ever that business charges for them
how to fit                           ... By the use of a drill and drill bit of appropriate size, some bolts and nuts to fit the holes that you drilled, Some wiring/electrical wire fittings and electrical insulation tape .
Connect said fittings to wires and attach one end of each wire to units and the other ends to power and earth in the appropriate place also not to forget to put the on/off switch some where within the two ends of the wire you use as the positive wire.   :) ::) not forgetting to place the units where ever you wish to on your machine.

now I am not to sure as what else I could tell you   :think1 :think1  apart from the likes Of Supercheap and the like will have all that you need to complete the process  :nahnah :nahnah :nahnah :nahnah :rofl :crackup

I think the reversing unit being referred to is just something to turn some lights on at the back which you turn on while push backwards

I saw that Step 3 and thought it was a pretty good clue as to how it worked.  It was the word "push" that gave it away for me.  :whistle  :popcorn

I think the only reason the Goldwing does  it, (and you're right it works off the starter motor, i.e. it's electric and doesn't go very far!!), is that they are simply too heavy for anyone to push!

so my question is
can i reverse relay the the starter on an ST with a switch to change polarity,
so the bike will go backwards in second gear for 1 or 1/15 meters

The task would be extremely difficult, as you would probably also have to isolate the electronics at the same time, they would not like reversed power.

Im not sure how the goldwing reverse works, but I think it engages a reversing cog to turn the gearbox backwards with the starter.

Brock, you are correct, there is a big lever which has to be engaged to make the thing go backwards. This cuts off everything except the starter motor and even then severely limits the available power to it so as to give no speed. God forbid that the engine starts in the wrong direction!!!!

I think the concept of cobbling together some sort of home-made reversing system which does not include an absolute reliance on mandrauics would be fraught with so many dangers that I wouldn't even want to contemplate it!

Harieg...forget it, it won't happen!

:hijacked Found this on a GL1800 site on post for reverse gear.

This for GL1800, the earlier versions use a lever but the process is the same

As to how it operates, once you are in neutral (with the bike running) press the reverse button and after about a second or so the reverse light goes on. Now when you press the starter button the starter motor is engaged with gearing to move the bike in reverse at about 1 mph. There are numerous interlocks and safety circuits to not allow it to go faster or overload the electrical system.

This another desciption of what happens when the reverse button is pushed,

Pushing the REVERSE but sets up a scenario in which your starter motor engages NOT the engine drive train AHEAD of the clutch (in order to turn over and start the engine) but to engage the transmission BEHIND the clutch and to rotate in the opposite of the direction used for starting. This latter configuration drives the gears and the bike backward.
Disengaging the REVERSE switch returns the starter motor's gear engagement and direction of rotation to the normal "starting" configuration.

Back to normality once we can work out what that is........lol

Sorry Skip,
Can't make the ride on the 17th. Two daughters flying into Brisbane from different sides of the World after extended overseas holidays. Great planning - one lands at 11am and the other at 4pm so we have to while away 5 hours in between! I'd definitely prefer to be riding, but she who must be obeyed would cut my nuts out if I even mentioned the idea. They just don't get it!

Wayne

What are you, man or mouse?  From 11:15 you could whizz out to Murphy's Creek, have a bite to eat and whizz back to the airport by 4:00 with time to spare and no sweat worked up.  You're not thinking straight!

It gets worse - Saturday morning (17th) Daughter A. calls to inform us that she had made a mistake, (due to time difference she says) and her flight arrives at 11am on Sunday not Saturday! So I could have gone for the ride and still been back to meet Daughter B. at 4pm. The real bitch was having to make two trips from the Mountain to Brisbane airport in two days! Women - can't live with them, can't live without them, (though I'm willing to give it a try).http://ozstoc.com/Smileys/default/think1.gif
Wayne Tenni
If this is as good as it gets .... it ain't too bad.
