Title: 23/04/2019 New Key
Post by: alans1100 on April 23, 2019, 06:10:26 PM
Just ordered a new key from Moto Adelaide for the 1300A. When it arrives they'll let me know so I can book the bike in for the keys to be encoded.

Key Cost $43
Encoding $100

Plus the cost to get the key cut

Key arrived a few weeks ago and bike booked in for tomorrow afternoon.

Looks like a reasonable morning for a ride to the city. Had a frost this morning with an overnight low of 1C and looks similar for the morning when I leave at about 7am.

Got back home about 30 mins ago. Now have three working keys. Total cost $83 (1 key blank $43) plus $10 to get the key cut.

Cheap since I deduce that includes the coding.

$40 for the time it took from taking the bike from the car park until it's ready for me to ride it away.

The 1300 is one of the easier ones to do as only the seat needs to be removed unlike other bikes where you need to pull of maybe a fairing etc. to get to what they need to access for encoding the key.

Even on mine they had to try a few different connecting plugs before they got the right one.

While I was there I checked out the DCT 'wing and red as well. Didn't seem that much larger than the 1300 if they were sitting side by side.

They did downsize the 2018 Wing, and there is a definite family styling similarity to the ST.  Maybe they're aiming to make it the natural progression for us ST Owners.  I might be tempted when there's a whole bunch of red second-hand ones to choose from.
