Time to rattle the old brain bucket and get involved and offer some ideas for next year......
A timely reminder to get things going in VIC.
So okay VIC OzSTOCers and Touring Wannabees, time for you ALL to submit nominations for RTE's in 2020. So nominate your preferred destination along with lunch, dinner and / or accomodation venues.
As a reminder, I have tried to pin all of the RTE locations on the attached map.
(https://i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu159/williamson_photos/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/RTE%20ALL%20Map_zps88wondie.png) (https://s643.photobucket.com/user/williamson_photos/media/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/RTE%20ALL%20Map_zps88wondie.png.html)
It would be good to have a new location, I'm sure plenty are available.
So, who is gunna nominate their preferences first?
Interstate nominations welcome.

Somewhere in Mildura.

Somewhere in Mildura.
Thanks BG.
Mmmm .......... I think that would be an overnighter. If you have any other ideas re. lunch, dinner and accomodation venues, now's your chance.

I nominate lunch at the Wally Pub at Walhalla... :thumbs

That looks a nice venue and sounds like a doable day ride.

And another thought on Mildura, I'll get my people to talk to your people re. a Two State Overnighter in Mildura. And if any of the NSW or ACT crew want to make it a three / four state & territory get-together, who am I to stand intheir way?

It's one of my favourite places....Great ride in with plenty of twisties and a lovely little town full of history if you're into that sort of thing.
I also recommend the run up to the Thomson Dam... :thumb

# Just thought I'd add...probably best to visit in warmer weather as the place can be pretty bleak when it's cold & wet.

That would be a fantastic place for an RTE. Chris and I stayed at the "Star Hotel" in Walhalla nearly twenty years ago. It was a most memorable hotel stay, that still regularly comes up in conversation.

It's in the DRAFT 2020 calendar for Saturday 8 February that Garry and I are working on, but don't tell anyone.
-

Somewhere in Mildura.
It's in the DRAFT calendar, and I notice that Alan has this in mind for an SA RTE as well.

In the DRAFT calendar too.
Come on guys & gals, here's a chance, otherwise Garry & I will make an executive decision.
...... Interstate nominations welcome.
Silence from the ACT & NSW crew, whom I thought might like to meet-up somewhere around Tumut?

Just advising that I have pencilled in a SA/NT RTE on My 2nd and 3rd which is a date suggested by Wendy.
Hoping the SA/Vic RTE isn't that weekend.
-
Me, I just go with the flow. There's lots of places I haven't seen so carry on........... :-++

By the sounds of it there are also lots of places you have been to even though they weren't on your planned route.

That could be the case, or perhaps Nigel's been to some places, but he just doesn't remember being there.

Sorry boys and girls, we won't be around to make Walhalla this time, we'll be off riding in the 'shaky isles'.
Back just in time for some Super Bikes @ the Island.
Have a great time

Yes, and it might suit you, at least a little better than some of the alternatives. Here's a DRAFT calendar for VIC RTE 2020
(https://i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu159/williamson_photos/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/Calendar%20Version%201_zpsnpjpmepc.png) (https://s643.photobucket.com/user/williamson_photos/media/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/Calendar%20Version%201_zpsnpjpmepc.png.html)
The Tallangatta event did not occur because of the bushfires, Walhalla is a goer next weekend, I need to add the RTE Avonsleigh on 29 February, and then organise something for Curdievael / Boggy Creek Hotel for 7 March, stand by for a thread on that one.
For the months of April, May, June and July - we will be in the UK, IRE & EUR so won't have time to organise events for those months. I have asked Garry & Marcus to help each other with RTE arrangements for those months. When I return in July, there'll be plenty of time to organise RTE for the rest of the year.
-
That's a long weekend here too. Roster pending and hopefully an early finish on the friday could make this a real possibility.
-
I have a suggested location... Maldon, Victoria
I spent some time there today doing some photography. It is a nice run in from the Freeway, and then a nice ride out towards Castlemaine, or Daylesford depending on which direction you need to go.
Not sure where, the hotel seems nice, but not sure about accommodating lots of people for Lunch... the Maldon Cafe was nice, a bit slow on the food, again not sure about how many they can accommodate, they are right next door to the hotel.
-
Sue came up with a suggestion the other day..the LakeView Bar and Bistro at Loch Sport. :popcorn

It's time we can start planning VIC RTE's in-line with the latest advice from the VIC Government. Here's an extract from the DHHS website:
Under the proposed plan, restaurants, cafes and and other hospitality businesses will be able to resume dine-in service:
- From 1 June with up to 20 patrons per enclosed space
- From 22 June with up to 50 patrons per enclosed space
- With up to 100 patrons per enclosed space during the second half of July
Full details here: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/gradual-re-opening-cafes-restaurants-to-dine-in-customers-from-June (https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/gradual-re-opening-cafes-restaurants-to-dine-in-customers-from-June)
I have been chatting with Garry (ppopeye), we have concluded that an RTE may be achievable up to or including Sunday 21 June 2020, and only if there is a suitable venue, and host, that is wiling to accomodate 10 to 20 of us. This is likely to be at a venue that we have previousy attended which we know has a suitable enclosed space for our little group, and because the host will know us as being reliable in filling a booking.
So when we have a venue and a date, I'll post an RTE thread, people will be able to indicate their attendance (or not). I'll need to draw a line at 20.
So, in the meantime, keeps some dates free if you can. To assist, here are a few Saturday, Sunday and Queen's Birthday dates to keep in mind.
(https://i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu159/williamson_photos/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/June%20Calenda%20V2r_zps5y9vlx6u.png) (https://s643.photobucket.com/user/williamson_photos/media/RTE%20A%20Master%20List/June%20Calenda%20V2r_zps5y9vlx6u.png.html)
Finally, let me know if there are any dates that do not suit, and these will be kept in mind.
-
Only room for 19. I :grin can do any of those dates.............. :eek

The VIC RTE Executive will need to decide on if no. 21 to indicate their preference to attend is an ST rider takes preference over a BMTroubleyou rider.
Stand by for a decision.
-
Is that a bears nose I can see? Wot thuh
-
I can't do any of those dates. :'(
-
Yes Nigel thats the bears nose coming out of hibernation. We are of to QLD middle of june so hope to catch early ride to eat before we go, Stay safe. Denis Diane.
-
No can do 6,7,8.
-
At this stage probably any of those days would suit me, assuming I've bought a new rear tyre by then... :thumbs
Sue said she probably won't risk going to any RTE's at this stage but she's given me permission to go if I want to... :grin
-
Debbie and I can make any of the dates so lets start the list as we are busting for a ride. I would like to suggest that Foster in Gippsland may be suitable as a destination. It has a pub, motel, bakery, gardens and many interesting roads in the area. Nice for a day ride or even an overnighter.
Hope all our fellow Ozstocers are well and have been able to stay safe. See you all soon Rex and Debbie
-
We seem to be developing a theme here and on the FB page, for an RTE to South Gippsland. Must keep in mind, we and our hosts, will be better off if they a have an emclosed space for 10 to 20 peoples.
Going on expressions of interest so far, we have:
- Helen & Michael - (2)
- Nigel - (3)
- Jonathon & Vera - (5)
- Rex & Debbie - (7)
- Garry - (eight)
- Russel & Sue - (10)
- Once we get here - (20), there's no more room.
Spaces filling fast, we are half way there.

Not the first time you've done this, but is there any reason why you write eight alphanumerically when you use digits for other numbers? Just curious.

When I type these characters ( 8 ) in this order but without the space between the open bracket, the 8 and the close bracket, I get this (8).
What happens when you try it?
-
No need to check it. That happens on our football forum too now that you mention it.
-
(8)
-
Why is it so 😳
-
Try leaving a "space" after the 8...

One plus one things, Bodo you are obviously bored, and JD, Professor Julius Summner Miller, cant, at this time offer any conclusions. :eek

Some suggestions from the FB page for RTE

2. Balook Cafe (Tarra Bulga)
3. Port Albert or Alberton Pub
4. Mirboo North Brewery and Restaurant
5.Prom Country Lodge
Keep them coming!!
-
Its the code for the smiley/emoticon..
If you type : ) (without the space you shoud get this (if it works ) :)
Oh well , it didnt .. :o ( which is : o )
-
Thanks for the offer Micheal. Live in Brisbane. Friends own the Prom Country Lodge.Call & ask for Kim or Vic, mention Bill Held being a member. Check what they would offer. By the time of the ride restrictions maybe lifted enough to cater for more.

At the moment Qld borders are closed till September

Travel restrictions relaxed here in VIC, but not enough to organise an RTE as yet, that might come in two weeks, an announcement of a further relaxation of restrictions has been forecast for Sunday 1 November, so some planning can occur in the meantime.
Here's what I have in mind:
- On Monday 2 November, a ring around and emails to a number of rural pubs to see if we will be welcome in a group of 10, 20 or whatever, for lunch.
- I'll start with the Five Flags Hotel Cambells Creek, because that's the first VIC RTE that was cancelled.
- If their response is a "NO", I'll ring around a few others until I get a "YES".
- And then I'll start a thread.
- To give everyone some reasonable notice and time to plan, I'm nominating Sat 14 or Sun 15 November, so save the dates.
Open to suggestions and discussion.
-
For a minute there I thought you were looking at suggestions for next year. I don't plan to travel interstate for the rest of the year so shall let this pass to the keeper, and keep my suggestions for when you throw out a 2021 request.
Hopefully you'll get something and people can attend. You guys need a break.
-
OK I`m packed . When can I leave? Oh, and tell me where? :grin
Went out this morning and pumped up the tyres must be an omen :eek
-
Sounds good. Hope one of them takes the bait.
-
So does that mean Lakes Entrance is back on I'm looking forward to getting back in one of my old stomping grounds I'll leave tomorrow. :grin :grin :grin
-
Probably closer to Melbourne than Lakes. At this point we are still only allowed. 25km from home. We hope that rule changes in time for any RTE. No guarantee yet..

No argument there.

Patience Grasshopper. You'll get plenty of notice.

This will be a day RTE, not an overnighter (although some may plan otherwise), as Lake Entrance is getting a little to far for some of us to go their and back in a day - some would, some won't. A Lakes Entrance overnighter, probably won't be at least unitil Feb or Mar ... 2021.
Probably closer to Melbourne than Lakes. At this point we are still only allowed. 25km from home. We hope that rule changes in time for any RTE. No guarantee yet..
Like he said.
