Leaving Queensland
« on: March 29, 2014, 07:39:36 PM »
Well the time has come to depart Queensland to return to Adelaide after 13 years living here in the heat and the sweat!!. Tomorrow morning we will be leaving Ipswich and will spend the next 6 days taking a slow drive down south in a 6-birth motor-home rented from Brisbane with my lovely wife, a dog, a cat and three budgies. Following my cancer brain surgery, which by the way was done just a few days short of 12 months ago, it was decided that returning home to Adelaide, with all the family members who live there, made far more sense than my poor missus having to look after me on her own up here. And as I have retired from work permanently (and got my Superannuation pay-out thank you!!) it made little or no sense for us to have to remain here. My wife has had her job contract requirements modified so she can do it wherever she happens to be, so Adelaide makes a highly justifiable destination.

I must say that I truly appreciate the level of interest which has become most obvious in the Club during the last year and I am truly hoping to be able to get another bike in the very near future and join in the rides, out of Adelaide this time.

One thing that sort of irritates me is that whilst I lived in QLD all the annual rallies were located in the South, but now that I am moving to SA the next Rally has been put down for QUEENSLAND!!!!!!!, Bloody typical! Oh well, an excuse for a decent length ride I suppose.

Cheers guys and I'll take some pics on the way home and will post them if there is a level of interest for them.
 o:)
Cheers,
Paul

Trust you enjoy the trip.
Don't be too optimistic about Adelaide's climate.  Ippy might have been hot and sweaty, but Adelaide gets its share of hot days, and colder winter days.
But you're right- family support is vital, even when you're 100% well.
A good mob of riding mates waiting for you down there.
See you in Warwick (or Stanthorpe, or Toowoomba or Merringanden).
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Feel like you're sneaking out the back door Paul. I'm sure a few of us 'locals' would have loved to have had a  :beer with you before you left. Mate it's been great to have shared the odd get together with you. All the very best with your health in the future.
If I ever get to retire, keep an eye out for  :blu13 coming your way.
Cheers mate.

Ipswich can be a very hot place in summer :H, and while Adelaide can also get very hot at least you won't have the problem with humidity.  Mate I wish you well, I trust the move will be everything you hope it will be. I've never been happier since moving to Tasmania after spending the previous 40 years in Brisbane.   Good luck to you, your wife, dog, cat, and 3 budgies!! :grin
