Tattoos
« on: December 27, 2012, 02:49:06 PM »
Whilst it appears to be the case that motorcycling and tattoos are inextricably linked in the minds of the general public, presumably because of the fact that a great many Harley riders have loads of tatts, I would be interested to know who amongst our august body of ST riders actually has any tattoos.

I'll start this off by saying that I have two fairly big tattoos on my chest, one of a tigers face and one of a Japanese Dragon which actually goes up over my shoulder, down my arm and down my back. I'm happy to put pics up here if any wants to see them.

So does anyone else have any, and are they willing to share pictures of them (as long as they are in places that we are allowed to, and actually wish to, see)

Mate, there's nothing to feel 'sorry' about, tatts are such a personal choice, some people love them and some hate them, some think of them as art, some as desecration, but in the end it really does come down to the choice of the individual and neither view-point is "wrong", just different.

Most people who have tattoos like to look at the tattoos that others have, hence the question. I seen some really beautiful tattoos, especially the full back or sleeve tatts that come out of Japan. On the other hand I seen some absolutely dreadful things that should never been shown the light of day.
Cheers,
Paul

My personal opinion is that they are "cartoon cancer" but that's my opinion and not someone else's.

When I see someone with a tat I wonder why but I realise that like makeup they are a form of expression of individuality and a finger-up to anyone who doesn't like them.

I can also see Streak's point in wearing them as a personal and private form of pride in his family.

But as far as getting one goes I would have to be paralytic drunk and ten Maoris would have to hold me down and I would vomit on them for their trouble.

Also, I am trying to remember the name of the guy who used to play for the Penrith Panthers - a slim guy with peroxide white hair who played a great fullback's game while giving away about 30 kilos to most other players, anyway he had a large tat on his chest that was an embarrassing misspelling, something like "COURIGE" but that wasn't it - does anyone remember this and clarify it for me? You would think the tattooist would check first!

And what is it with people who have a tat somewhere on the back where they can't see it themselves?  :o

Anyway, each to their own and I would gladly be friends with Totally Tattooed Terence than one of those lying scumbag lawyers in pin-striped suits and perfect hairstyles and hands that have never been dirty or scratched their arse in public.  :butt

There was a famous story about a young skin-head in UK in the 80's who decided to do his own tattoo of the word "Skins" on his forehead (???) but the only way he could see what he was doing was by looking in the mirror, so what he ended up with was the word "SNIKS" in big badly formed letters right above his eyesbrows for all to see !! A real rocket scientist!!

I have only 1 tattoo at this point in time, a valkyrie on my right arm.  :grin
She is covered by the sleeve of my shirt most of the time.

The wife (Carrol) has a dragon tattooed around her wrist.  :thumb
The dragon is covered by a watch band when working.

One day we will get more but there is no rush :runyay

That's pretty cool , nice and simple , original and worn over your heart .

I don't have tattoo's myself and can't see me getting any in the near future. I have a lot of friends with tattoo's and it doesn't bother me.
Tattoo's have had a real big resurgence and amazingly the amount of ink that woman have , sports people , musicians etc.  I think if you are a good musician you don't need the ink , seems strange to me but people do what makes em' feel good I spose .

No tatt's here, I like them if done well but I'm personally against them on me, might have to be the pain factor and the permanent status.
